Chapter 25.2
Absolute Advantage
Adam raised his chin to the door.
âAccording to Director Choi, he canât come todayâ¦â¦.â
âAh. To surprise my prospective sister-in-law, I told him to lie and pretend he couldnât go.â
âYou mean you havenât sold your collection yet?â
Ellieâs face glowed at Adamâs words. If Smith is here and hasnât spent his money yet, that means she had a chance.
âI donât think itâs time to talk about that.â
Adam asked, changing his eyes. Ellie realised her situation belatedly.
âOh, I see. I can ask the wives to sign up for sponsorship in Seohwa Welfare again. Iâll collect all the boys.â
âThatâs the answer, but your attitude is slightly off.â
Adamâs cold eyes stared at Ellie.
Ellie trembled and fell on her knees. Her pride was hurt, but there was no other way.
Oh, have you seen any dramas? Adam sarcastically thought. Ellie gritted and bowed her head.
âIâm, sorry.â
Adam smiled.
âLook at you. Youâre good at this.â
Adam looked at Ellie with admiration. However, there was an evident sneer on his lips.
Ellie, who had been holding back her pride, opened her mouth as if she had to say this.
âBut if you reveal this picture, you wonât get anything good either.â
âIs that a threat? Or are you worried?â
Adam asked back with a smile.
âOf course, Iâm talking about worrying about my prospective brother-in-law. All of these wives are alpha wives. How many alphas do you think you will offend if you release it?â
Now, she happened to take advantage of his weakness. Can we take a risk of offending the other alphas? Itâs a stupid omega.
Ellie stared at Adam as if to wake him up.
âAh, those alphas. I will be in danger?â
Adam burst into laughter.
Sheâs threatening him with another alpha? It was beyond ridiculous and pitiful. Of course he didnât care.
âSo you will take good care of me? Will I be lucky if Iâm alright?â
ââ¦â¦!â
âThis kind of threat works only for people who have a lot to lose, just like you.â
Adam crouched down in front of Ellie with a smile.
âDo you know what people like me do when theyâre cornered?â
And whispered softly, âI will get along with them. Then play them to their hell.â
This crazy bastard.
Ellie clenched her teeth and thought.
âI hope that doesnât include you. Right?â
The low-sinking voice became fresh again. Adam picked up a plastic bottle that was rolling on the floor and tapped Ellie on the head.
Dong, dong, dong.
There was nothing in her head, so the echoing sound was really clear. Adam, who was listening to the sound, stopped his arm.
âI wonât sell the art.â
ââ¦â¦What?â
âI suddenly donât want to sell it. So work things well.â
Adam raised himself with a thud.
He looked around at the crushed plastic bottle and threw it away indifferently. A bouncy plastic bottle rolled into a corner.
âOh, andâ¦â
Adam came to a standstill in front of the door.
âWhat happened here is a secret between you and me.â
Adam covered his mouth with his stretched index finger and smiled ironically. Ellie looked up at him with puzzled eyes.
âDonât touch Seo Haewon. Do you understand?â
When Ellieâs reaction was stoic, Adam asked with a smile. Only then did Ellie nod in a hurry.
âI-I understand.â¦! I wonât talk to her!â
Ellie replied servilely.
Only then did Adam turn the handle.
The air from the outside rushed in through the cracks in the open door, making it easy to breathe.
Adam breathed in slowly.
At first glance, the fishy smell of the sea touched the tip of his nose and stimulated nostalgia.
But what he misses the most right now is,
The smell of Haewon.
* * *
Haewon couldnât believe it.
Applications for sponsorship were coming in one by one, and all of them were backers who had recently withdrawn their patronage.
âWhat the hell is going on?â
She wondered if someone was making fun of her. Or a hidden camera. No, it canât be a hidden camera prank. Hae-won, who was relaxed, smirked.
âItâs a relief.â
Hae-won fell on her desk after confirming that all the sponsors who had left for the last time had returned. She felt like she went back and forth between heaven and hell, and the last few days, especially, have been hell.
Letâs take a break⦠from the company today.
Even after returning home, she stayed up all night to adjust the budget physically and mentally. In the end, many budgets ended up in the trash, but she was more than happy to do it.
âWait. What time is it now?â
Haewon took out her cell phone. Her head went blank when she saw the date on the screen.
Oh, itâs Sunday.
She went to work on a Saturday, so she thought it was a weekday. By the way, when was the last time I ate? After she was done, Haewon began to take care of herself.
