Chapter 60.2
Absolute Advantage
Hae-won hugged the bag that was handed to her as she tried to relax and persuade Adam, as per usual, so that he doesnât doubt her anxiety.
âWhat if someone hears you?â
âHaewon and I are the only ones here.â
Adam pretended to look around. Hae-won laughed weakly, then rummaged through the bag.
By the way, there wasnât anything that was needed.
âWhatâs wrong, Haewon?â
âOh, I donât have any of my suppressants. I think I dropped it at Adamâs house.â
âDo you need it now?â
Adam asked, squinting. Haewon shook his head.
âI have more.â
Hae-won shrugged her left shoulder carrying a tote bag. Adam carefully observed Haewonâs two bags.
âI guess you have one in each bag.â
When he saw Hae-won, a mischievous smile spread across Adamâs mouth.
âI have a heat that can explode at any time.â
Hae-wonâs shoulders were moved by the expression.
âItâs not every day.â
âThen Iâm glad. But donât go crazy in front of others. Never.â
Adam pretended to joke and revealed his strong desire to possess Haewon.
âIâd love not to, butâ¦â
Haewon swallowed a deep sigh. How she wishes she could control her heat. Fortunately, recently, the heat was only when she was with Adam.
As Adam tried to open his mouth again, Haewonâs cell phone rang. Haewon answered the phone in a hurry.
âYes, yes, I see.â
She leaned to the phone, nodding her head in an unprecedented gentleness. Hae-won, who finally finished the phone call, was as pale as a drowning man.
âWho?â
âItâs Chairman Seoâs call. I should go now. I guess itâs urgent. Oh, thank you for coming to return my bag.â
Hae-won smiled as she lifted up the bag Adam brought him while talking, somewhat rambling.
âIâll give you a ride.â
âYes? No, itâs okay.â
âI felt a bit sad to send you alone last time.â
Adam lightly gripped Haewonâs wrist. As Hae-won stood as if she had been nailed down, he asked in a firm voice.
âHaewon, youâre not avoiding me on purpose, are you?â
âI canât avoid you on purposeâ¦â¦.â
âThen thatâs enough. Letâs go. My car is right there.â
Adam naturally put Haewon in his car.
* * *
Through the densely packed skyscrapers.
Haewon seemed to feel tight in the chest as the familiar scenery caught her eyes. Like that, Adamâs car stopped in front of the Seohwa Groupâs headquarters.
âThank you for wishing me well.â
Hae-won looked at Adam while undoing her seat belt.
âIt will take a long time. So donât wait, all right?â
Adam rolled his eyes at her request, pretending not to understand.
âYou canât wait for me.â
Haewon emphasized once more, then closed the car door. It was like a parent who begged her little child.
Only when Haewon became far enough, Adam gave a quick answer.
âI want to.â
âThe headquarters is in a mess today.â
Hae-won thought as she walked down the hall.
This was the floor of the strategic planning headquarters called the Seohwa Control Tower. Some of the spaces are divided into transparent glass walls, so she can see the inside at a glance.
All the employees remained even after the closing time. The other offices were busy as well. The employee, who was calling with his necktie turned over his shoulder, hurriedly lowered the blinds when his eyes met with Hae-won.
âWhat happened?â
Hae-won took out her cell phone and searched for the Seohwa group. However, no negative articles have been posted in the past few days.
As she opened the door of the executive meeting room, Chairman Seo and Sera were already seated. Haewon hurriedly lowered her head and went to her place.
âYouâre all here.â
Chairman Seo opened her mouth.
âEllie hasnât arrived yet.â
Haewon quickly scoured the empty chairs. Ellie wasnât there. Nevertheless, Chairman Seo remained calm as if she had forgotten Ellieâs existence. Sera also looked calm.
âI guess they know sheâs not coming.â
Haewon felt a familiar sense of helplessness. She was always the last person to hear the news even if something big happened in the house. There were a lot of things that she didnât know until the official articles were posted.
âThere were some changes in the meeting with Vice Chairman Joo, so I talked with him.â
Chairman Seo continued in a solemn voice.
âWe were supposed to take the position of JS Trade Director.â
âYou were supposed to give it to my entourage, right?â
When the talk of a trade director came up, Sera stepped in cautiously. Instinctively, she noticed that things were in trouble.
