Chapter 2136
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
âIâll take you home, but not now, â Madeline said and looked at Jeremy. Then, she said, âGo to the room with me and rest for a while.â
Hannah seemed to want to say something, but when she saw that Madeline had turned around, she hurriedly followed her.
âWhat a lunatic! â Karen gazed at Hannahâs back.
After she saw that Hannah had followed Madeline upstairs, Karen looked back and asked Jeremy with a calm expression on her face.
âJeremy, what the hell are you two doing?â
Jeremy walked to the living room with a slight smile. He carried his son who was sitting on the sofa into his arms to play with him for a while, then he finally said, âWeâre putting on an act but itâs not only me and Eveline who are acting.â
Karen understood what Jeremy meant. âYou mean that woman is also acting?â
âUh-huh.â Jeremy smiled. He gently pinched the little boyâs cheek with his fingers. âShe keeps clinging to us and pestering us. Iâm sure she still wants to harm Linnie, but sheâs just looking for opportunities.â
âAnd youâre still letting her live here? Wouldnât Eveline be in even more danger then?â
âEveline will only be in more danger if she remains in a passive state,â Jeremy said, raising his fierce but wise thin eyes. âThe best way is to turn passive into active.â
With that said, Karen completely understood.
However, she was still worried. âWell, although it seems that youâre the ones taking the initiative, I still feel that itâs not safe. What if this dangerous person harms Pudding and Jack now that youâre keeping her in our home?â
âSince I brought her back, Iâll definitely not let her have another chance to hurt anyone around me.â
Jeremy was confident. He smiled at his son kindly and promised, âPudding, donât worry. Iâll definitely protect your mommy and myself. Iâll also protect you and your brother.â
Little Pudding did not understand what Jeremy was talking about, so he just grinned and smiled at Jeremy unconsciously.
However, from Jeremyâs point of view, the little boy was responding to him.
Upstairs.
Madeline took Hannah to the room that had been tidied up and prepared some brand new daily necessities for Hannah.
âYou should get a good nightâs sleep. Next time, donât lie down and sleep outside in the winter. Youâll freeze yourself to death, â Madeline told Hannah kindly.
Hannah seemed to hear what Madeline said and nodded meekly, but suddenly, she reminded Madeline with a serious expression.
âSis, is it really okay for me to live here? Your husband and your mother-in-law donât look like good people, especially your husband. I always get the feeling that this man isnât sincere to you.â
âYou can live here with peace of mind. As for my husband and me, you donât have to worry about us,â
Madeline said calmly and patted Hannahâs shoulder lightly. âYou should rest. I have to go to work.â
âAre you going back to work at the company?â Hannah asked as she chased after Madeline.
Madeline looked back and smiled. âIâm worried about you, so Iâll draw my design drafts at home today.
You can call me if you need anything.â
After she heard that, Hannah seemed to be taken aback. Then, she grinned happily.
âSis, youâre so good to me.â
Madeline smiled softly. She did not say anything before she turned around and left the room. While she was at it, she closed the door too.
She went back to the living room and saw Jeremy playing with their son. Then, she walked over to him.
âJeremy, I think sheâs asleep now.â
Jeremy smiled understandingly. âSheâs been acting for so long. She slit her wrist and even slept in the snow. After such a struggle, of course, sheâll sleep soundly now that she has a nice bed.â
Madeline walked to Jeremy and sat down next to him. She then let out a sigh, âI thought she regretted what she did on the rooftop that day, but I didnât think thatâ¦â
