Chapter 2055
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
Carter warned her, and Madeline warned him in turn.
Having said this, Madeline did not forget to put on her gentle and affectionate smile before turning around to smile at the little princess who had been looking at her.
âByeâbye, Lily.â
Lillian raised her tender little hand and waved at Madeline.
âMommy.â
She called out to Madeline again, her voice tender and crisp.
Madeline felt satisfied but distressed. She had a lot of reluctance in her heart, but now she had to leave.
Carter closed the door as soon as Madeline left, but he did not move away.
Shirley looked at Carter as he walked toward her, and she felt a little nervous.
She was worried that Carter had heard whatever noise that was made when Madeline was handing her the phone.
Nevertheless, at this moment, what touched Shirley more was Carterâs real purpose for bringing her to F Country.
Carter did not notice the anomaly in Shirleyâs mannerism. He asked straightforwardly, âWhat did you say to Eveline?â
Shirley came back to her senses suddenly and looked at the man with a stifling gaze.
âWhat can I say to Eveline? She just wants to spend more time with her daughter.â
âReally?â Carter obviously did not believe it. â Arenât you good friends who worked together to take action against me? I think you wouldâve discussed how to deal with me just now, didnât you?â
Carterâs tone seemed to be joking, but Shirley knew that he was actually serious. Moreover, his guess was not wrong.
She and Madeline had discussed something just now, but Carter appeared before they could speak any further.
âI really didnât expect you and Eveline to have something to talk about. Not only that, but you two also joined forces to push me from a high position to the bottom of the abyss.â
Carter said sarcastically before looking at Lillian who was standing aside with a chuckle.
âAre you happy to see your mother? Do you want to see your father too?â
Lillian blinked. She seemed indifferent to Carterâs words.
Despite being such a young child, she seemed to know that Carter was being unkind.
âWhy? You donât want to see your daddy?â Carter coaxed softly. âYou havenât seen your daddy for a long time, have you? If youâre good, I can take you to see your daddy.â
Lillian looked at the soft-spoken Carter, but she turned her smiling face away calmly and then walked up to Shirley and pointed at the bedroom.
Shirley quickly understood and smiled. âLily, come with me to the room to rest.â
Lillian smiled sweetly and followed Shirley into the room.
After entering the room, Shirley sat by the French window and her thoughts wandered.
After some time, Shirley felt a warm little hand gently holding her hand.
She looked down and saw that Lillian holding a small paper sailboat and that she was thrusting it into Shirleyâs hand, lightly tapping the palm of Shirleyâs hand.
Shirley did not quite understand what Lillian meant, but she could feel that Lillian wanted to comfort her and hope she could be happy.
âLily, what do you want to say to me?â Lillian then handed her a small note.
Shirley took it and saw that four neat words were written on it. âMiss Shirley, be happy.â
