Chapter 2051
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
The driver nearly lost his grip on the steering wheel when he heard what Carter said.
This did not sound like a conversation between lovers at all.
He subconsciously glanced at the rearview mirror to look at Carter, who had a cold and arrogant expression.
He briefly felt Carterâs gaze on him, so the driver quickly shifted his gaze away. He then heard Madelineâs calm and composed voice.
âWhatâs your goal? You can be straight to the point. You donât need to threaten me with my daughter again and again.â
âHeh.â Carter chuckled coldly at Madelineâs calm appearance. âEveline, while you seem to be very indifferent, I know how anxious you truly are.â
Madeline clenched her fists that were hidden in her sleeves slightly.
She could not deny that Carter now fully grasped the worries in her heart.
Carter caught sight of the melancholy flashing across Madelineâs eyes, and a deeper smile appeared on Carterâs lips.
âEveline, I told you I wonât let my child die in vain. I f you donât want your child to meet with any more danger, then you or Jeremy must pay a small price.â
After listening to Carterâs words, Madeline raised her eyes to meet his profound gaze. âWhat do you want?â
Carter lifted his arrogant eyes lightly. âThe perfect life I planned has been destroyed by you, and my child with Shirley is also gone now. Adam and Cathyâs deaths also made it impossible for Shirley and me to be as we were back then, to start again⦠â
As he said that, he suddenly sighed deeply.
âMy life seems to have completely fallen from the top to the bottom of the abyss. So, Eveline, how do you think I should retaliate against you and Jeremy?â
Carter asked with a deep smile, his eyes gleaming with hatred.
Madeline knew that Carter would not listen to her even if she tried to reason with him or tell him the facts. Moreover, he would also never admit that all of this happened because of him, so she simply did not speak further.
The driver could feel the terrifyingly weird and heavy atmosphere in the car, so he quietly picked up speed and reached the destination a short while later.
Madeline followed behind Carter into the hotel, then they took the elevator to one of the suites.
âWait at the door.â
Carter took the room card and ordered Madeline to stop.
Madeline did not argue with Carter either, so she stopped and stood at the door.
Carter was very satisfied when he saw how well cooperative Madeline was.
He swiped his card decisively and entered the room. After that, he closed the door behind him tightly.
Madeline waited at the door and made sure to be extra vigilant. Along the way, she had noted down the address and the door plate of the hotel.
As Madeline waited, she received another message from Jeremy.
Worried about Lillianâs condition, Jeremy asked Madeline to quickly reply to him once they were done.
Madeline wanted to hear Jeremyâs voice, but at the present, she did not have a choice.
After entering the room, Carter saw that Shirley was sitting on the balcony and enjoying the view with Lillian.
He seemed to frown out of dissatisfaction. Before Shirley could react, he picked Lillian up.
âCarter, what are you doing? Where are you taking Lily?â
Shirley immediately moved her wheelchair to chase after them.
âCarter, donât hurt the child. Sheâs innocent! â
Upon hearing that, Carter stopped abruptly in his tracks and Shirley quickly stopped her wheelchair.
Carter turned around and his eyes met Shirleyâs anxious gaze.
â I guess Iâve already become a cold-blooded and heartless demon in your heart too, havenât I?â
Shirley was at a loss, but after that, she continued to talk Carter out of this.
âI know you have a lot of dissatisfaction and anger in your heart. You can seek revenge on Jeremy, but donât take action against such a young child.â
âEven if I wanted to, you canât stop me.â
After saying that, Carter carried Lillian out of the door.
Shirleyâs heart skipped a beat, and she quickly followed behind them.
