Chapter 2040
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
âThank you, â Madeline thanked him quickly. She looked at the time and decided it would be better if they asked him out tomorrow morning.
Evan understood and then he took out the name card Carter had given him in the morning from his cardholder.
Carter had been waiting for Evan to return his call. Presently, he received his call, so he did not hesitate to pick it up. When he heard that Evan wanted to see him tomorrow morning, he quickly accepted.
After thanking Evan, Madeline helped Evan carry the drunk Fabian into the car.
After seeing Evan driving Fabian back home, Madeline stood by the busy car-filled street for a while before heading back to the hotel.
The next day, she woke up early.
She seemed to not have slept for the whole night because she missed her little princess.
Although she knew that Shirley should be taking care of Lillian, Carter despised Madeline and Jeremy so much, so Madeline was still worried about whether Carter would suddenly hurt Lily out of prejudice.
On the other side, Fabian woke up from his hangover.
When he saw Evan carefreely playing on his Ipad while sitting on the bean bag, Fabian sat up and shook his heavy head.
âOh, youâre awake, my Young Master Johnson, â Evan mocked from one side.
Fabian patted his temple. âHow did I get drunk? Did you send me back?â
â If it werenât me, do you think Evelineâs the one who sent you back?â
âEveline?â
When he heard Evanâs mocking tone, Fabian suddenly froze.
He then slowly remembered what happened in the bar last night.
âLast night, Eveline followed me to the bar, and she wanted to know clues about Lily from me, but then âYou got drunk.â
ââ¦â Fabian was taken aback. âThen? She just left?â
âShe can hold her alcohol better than you. She wasnât drunk, so of course, she can leave on her own.â
Evan was still talking in a mocking tone, answering Fabianâs questions irreverently.
However, Fabian seemed to realize something suddenly and he sat up in bed. âI donât care how she went back. I just want to find Lily as soon as possible.â
As he said that, he took off his clothes and took out some clean clothes from the closet before putting them on.
âSince Carter needs you to do him a favor now, heâll definitely come to see you again. I have Carterâs contacts. Call him now and ask him to come to see you.â
As Fabian said that, he walked to the toilet.
Evan put down his iPad and got up with a chuckle.
âIâve asked him out, â he said and looked at the time. âTwenty minutes later, Carter should be showing up in my cafe.â
Fabian stopped abruptly in his tracks. âWhat?â
Presently, it was g oâclock sharp. In a cafe on the corner of a street, the door with a windchime was pushed open, and then a man wearing a black leather jacket and sunglasses entered the cafe.
A young and pretty waitress went up to him passionately and greeted, âHello, are you Mr. Carter Gray?â
Carterâs gaze beneath his sunglasses darkened.
However, the waitress smiled and gestured to him politely. âThe boss is in the private room upstairs waiting for you. Please go ahead.â
