Chapter 1880
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
âStay away from my wife,â Jeremy warned in an exceptionally cold tone.
Adaâs mother halted immediately, afraid of taking another step toward Madeline.
Jeremy radiated an aura that intimidated her.
The expression in Carterâs eyes was already terrifying enough. At that moment, though, she felt that Jeremyâs gaze was even more lethal.
However, now that she had reached this point, there was no turning back for her.
If she backed down now, Ada would be held accountable for the crimes of arson and murder.
âEveline, why did you falsely accuse my daughter Ada of setting the fire?â
âYouâd better speak to her with more respect, â Jeremy reminded her coldly. âDonât blame me for not reminding you. Offending my wife puts you in more danger than offending me.â
Adaâs motherâs heart trembled in fear when she heard those words.
âI⦠I donât care. I just want to ask this woman Eveline, why she slandered my daughter and accused her of arson and murder?! â
Madeline truly did not want to bother explaining. With a solemn gaze, she looked at Carter, who was watching the entire scene unfolding from the side, then calmly shifted her gaze back onto Adaâs mother.
âI have nothing to explain to you.â
âWhat? You woman! You were the one who accused my daughter, youââ
âIf you want an explanation, you should ask the police for it. Iâve filed a police report. The officers should be here soon.â
Madeline simply interrupted Adaâs mother, smugly raising her perfectly angled eyebrows.
âYou should be quite familiar with your daughterâs behavior. I would not have filed a police report if I was not a hundred percent certain.â
â â Adaâs mother was astonished by Madelineâs imposing manner of speech and gaze.
It had never occurred to her that a woman could be so daunting, but she witnessed it on Madeline.
âYour beloved daughter has killed two of my closest friends. Iâll definitely make sure she pays for it.â
âYouâ¦â Adaâs mother was momentarily speechless.
âSince the police are on their way, let me cooperate like a good citizen that I am by calling out the person in question.â
Carter gave his bodyguard a signal as he spoke, and the bodyguard immediately did as told.
Adaâs mother looked frantically toward the door while Carter glanced over at Jeremy.
Feeling Carterâs eyes on himself, Jeremy met his gaze indifferently.
The corner of Carterâs mouth calmly curved into a smile. A smile that did not reach his eyes and was exceptionally heavy with implication.
Madeline looked at the current Carter, and all she could think about was how terrifying this person was.
Not long after, Ada was brought in by the bodyguard.
To be precise, she was carried out by the bodyguard. Adaâs feet had been dragged across the ground.
As soon as they entered the living room, the bodyguard dumped the unconscious Ada onto the floor before her mother.
Ada, who was thrown roughly to the ground, woke from her slumber in pain.
She opened her eyes and shrank immediately when she saw Carter standing before her, trembling like a terrified bird.
She had not imagined that Carter could truly do such a thing.
All that he was left to do now was cripple her legs and disfigure her face.
Adaâs mother was in disbelief when she saw Adaâs appearance. Her eyes widened as she studied Ada from head to toe. She was utterly dumbstruck as well!
