Chapter 1722
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
However, this time, Jeremy remained very calm. He chuckled softly and carefreely, saying, âShirley has already told me that the anti-toxoid test reagent hasnât been made. So even if sheâs standing here, it wonât be of use.â
âSo you wonât let her go, huh?â Carter was slowly losing his patience.
âYou can go now. Donât disturb my daughterâs rest.â Jeremy chased Carter away coldly.
Carter pressed his lips together tightly. He looked at Lillian who was blinking her clear wide eyes and then looked at Madeline while saying, âJeremy, donât regret this.â
âThe thing I regret the most is that I only waited till now to teach that vile woman a lesson.â
âVile woman.â
Those two words pierced Carterâs eardrums. He felt that they sounded abnormally ear-piercing.
Carter did not continue questioning Jeremy and turned around to leave with a cold expression on his face.
After Carter left, Madeline immediately comforted the little princess and put her back to sleep. After Lillian was asleep, she looked at Jeremy before the two of them walked out of the room.
âJeremy, is that true? Did you kidnap Shirley?â Madeline asked directly.
To be honest, she wanted to hear him denying this but she only saw him nodding.
âThatâs right, I kidnapped her and locked her up.â
âJeremyâ¦â Madeline felt a twinge in her heart and she wanted to ask Jeremy to let Shirley go. After all, this was not something just and honorable.
However, before she could continue, Jeremy interrupted her.
âLinnie, I canât take this anymore.â Jeremy held Madelineâs hand tightly in his palms.
She could feel Jeremyâs anxiety and uneasiness from the way he was holding her so tightly.
âJeremy, are you worried about me? Are you worried that the poison will torment me a lot when it reaches the final stage so thatâs why you kidnapped Shirley to force her to give you the anti-toxoid test reagent?â
After she said that, Jeremy lowered his eyelids silently.
Madeline felt her heart aching, but at the same time, she felt loved and pampered.
âJeremy, let her go. I donât want you to do something so unreasonable because of me.â
âLinnie, Iâm clear-headed and I know what Iâm doing.â Jeremyâs gaze looked firm. âIâm just doing to her what she did to you. I canât let them always have the upper hand over us. Linnie, we canât be so passive anymore.â
Madeline saw Jeremyâs unwavering decisiveness. After pondering, she figured that she could not change his mind anymore.
Plus, it was true that Shirley had done all kinds of evil.
âJeremy, where did you imprison Shirley? I want to go see her,â Madeline suggested, but Jeremy rejected without hesitation.
âI wonât let you see her. This is my own doing so I wonât drag you into this.â
âIâm already in this now, arenât I?â Madeline emphasized and looked straight into Jeremyâs eyes.
âJeremy, Iâm your wife. I wonât run away if youâre in trouble, do you understand?â
When Jeremy heard this, he suddenly felt remorseful. He regretted kidnapping Shirley now.
However, now that things had already arrived at this point, he could only continue with it.
The next morning, Jeremy called Karen to come to take care of Lillian in the hospital. After that, he took Madeline to the place where he was imprisoning Shirley.
On the way, Jeremy sensed that someone was following them. As such, he deliberately took a very roundabout way. After making sure that he had lost the person behind him, he eventually drove to the destination.
Madeline was surprised when the car stopped and she saw the building in front of her.
âItâs this place.â
