Chapter 1607
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
Madeline could not hear what Carter was saying to Jeremy, but she noticed the visible changes in Jeremyâs eyes. Even his expression became colder and darker instantly.
She was suspicious and curious, but she did not have any intention to probe.
When Carter saw the changes in Jeremyâs expression, he curled the corners of his lips and walked back to Madelineâs side in satisfaction.
âEveline, letâs go.â
Madeline looked at Jeremy who was standing motionless while looking at her without speaking. She smiled at Carter and nodded. âOkay, letâs go.â
Initially, Madeline was not curious, but when she remembered how Jeremy was so insistent on keeping her here and how he was watching her leave without any reaction now, she was feeling very conflicted.
She thought about it before finally asking, âCart, what did you say to Jeremy just now? Why does he look like heâs stunned? Why isnât he speaking or reacting?â
A hint of joy flashed across the corners of Carterâs eyes without a trace, but he did not say anything.
Madeline looked at him. Even though she was curious, she did not continue asking.
Jeremy watched blankly as Madeline walked away with Carter willingly. He did not have a way to stop her.
What Carter said in his ear was still lingering in the air. âDonât forget that she has committed bigamy.
Unless you want her to go back to where she went back then, you donât have another choice.â
Jeremy slowly clenched his fingers, and his eyes were filled with rage that was surging up violently.
Even so, he had nowhere to vent his anger.
âLinnie, Iâll wake you up from your hypnosis soon.
âI wonât let you stay away from me for too long.â
Jeremyâs eyes twinkled as he quickly drove his car to somewhere.
Madeline followed Carter back to the manor. After she ate, she went back to her room to sleep.
While she was still groggy, she felt as if someone was approaching her.
She wanted to open her eyes to wake up, but she felt a stinging pain in her eyes.
It was as if there was a gigantic and shiny crystal ball enveloping her, making her close surroundings air-tight.
Then, Madeline heard a manâs voice talking ethereally.
âEveline Montgomery.â
The man called out her name.
âRemember, the man you love the most now is your future husband, Carter Gray.
âJeremy Whitman is the man you loved back then but he has hurt you too much. Despite you forgiving him back then because of your children, you still canât get over it. Youâve been having a knot in your heart this entire time. You will never forgive him. Never.â
The man emphasized in the end.
Carter was standing next to the bed when he saw Madeline knitting her brows together. He stood there emotionlessly for a while before leaving.
Jeremy sped as fast as he could to Adamâs place. The door was opened, so he barged in directly.
âCathy!â
Adam was sitting in the living room absent-mindedly. When he saw Jeremy barging in frantically while yelling Cathyâs name, he stood up quickly.
âWhat happened?â
âWhereâs Cathy?â Jeremy asked hurriedly.
âYouâre looking for Cathy?â Adam furrowed his brows curiously. âDid anything happen?â
Jeremy furrowed his brows lightly. âI suspect that Linnie has been hypnotized.â
Adamâs expression changed. âHypnotized?â
âOnly Cathy can help me now,â Jeremy said affirmatively.
âCathy?â Adam was confused. âWhat do you mean by that?â
âHypnosis,â Jeremy uttered this word. His eyes looked solemn. âCathy knows hypnotism.â
