Chapter 1378
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
Now, Mrs. Jones was even more unhappy. âWhy can he go in but I canât go in to see my son?â
âMr. Whitman is from Interpolâs Internal Investigation Unit and heâs the senior agent whoâs looking into your sonâs case. So tell me if you think he can go in?â
ââ¦â Mrs. Jones had nothing to say, so she could only back away.
However, the longer she waited, the more frustrated she became. After thinking about it, she went out to make a call.
Inside the room.
Ryan was like a lifeless statue as he stared emotionlessly at the man who was walking toward him.
âI want to see Eveline, not you,â Ryan said. It was as if he had exerted a lot of force before he could say that sentence.
Jeremyâs gaze scanned across Ryanâs face coldly. âDo you think youâre worthy to see my wife now?â
Ryan lifted his gaze, and his tone was still filled with hostility toward Jeremy. âSheâs the one who woke me, so she has the responsibility to finish what she wanted to say to me.â
âRyan, do you really think that my wife will have something to tell you?â Jeremy chuckled coldly. âMy biggest limit is to let Linnie give you the will to survive. She wonât see you anymore. Just stop being hopeful.â
A look of loss dashed across Ryanâs face. Then, there was extreme dissatisfaction in his eyes.
âJeremy, I didnât lose to you! I just didnât want to hurt an innocent person.â
After Jeremy heard that, his handsome face was filled with dark clouds.
âYou hurt my wife so badly and youâre finally realizing that sheâs innocent?â His face was filled with rage while his eyes were like piercing icepicks. âRyan, you said youâre seeking revenge for your grandfather but have you ever investigated the true reason behind your grandfatherâs passing?â
After Ryan heard this, a cold smirk of disdain appeared on his face.
âJeremy, are you trying to prove that old fartâs innocence using this opportunity? Let me tell you, stop being delusional.â
âRyan, my grandpa never did anything outrageous. Youâre so desperate to avenge your grandfather, but at the same time, I wonât allow my grandpa to bear any false accusations,â Jeremy said with a stern look on his face.
âBack then, Whitman Corporation and Riverdawn Corporation were competing for Project ZF. My grandpa successfully got the winning bid for the project, and because of the completion of the project, Whitman Corporation built its foundation in Glendale and became stronger and stronger.
âHowever, your grandfather told you that my grandpa stole his proposal so that was why he lost the bid.
Because of that, your entire family thinks that my grandpa betrayed your grandfather who ultimately died in melancholy, is that right?â
After Jeremy recounted that, a spark of hatred appeared in Ryanâs eyes.
âYour grandfather killed my grandpa!â Even though he was weak, he was still insistent to express what he wanted to say.
Jeremy did not want to bicker with Ryan, so he threw a letter in front of Ryan. âIf you insist on thinking thatâs what happened, then open your eyes and read this.â
Ryan peered at the letter in disdain. However, he spotted the words âwritten by Hankâ on the envelope.
Hank was the name of Ryanâs grandfather.
Ryanâs expression changed when he looked at the handwriting.
âI think you should know your own grandfatherâs handwriting, right?â Jeremy reminded him. âThis is a letter your grandfather wrote to my grandpa after the bidding of the project. Open it and take a look for yourself.â
Ryan did not want to pay attention to what Jeremy was saying. However, this was a letter handwritten by his grandfather, so he could not ignore it.
He lifted his head challengingly and touched the letter before opening it slowly. When he read the contents of the letter, Ryan was instantly shockedâ¦
