Chapter 1133
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
Jeremy ignored Mrs. Jones and loaded the bullets with practiced ease before hooking his slender finger on the trigger. âDid you think that with Yorick dead, youâd have nothing to fear anymore, Ryan?â
A ripple finally flashed through Ryanâs elegant expression at the mention of Yorick Johnson.
Jeremyâs sharp gaze caught the slight shift in the manâs expression, and he pressed the muzzle against Ryanâs heart. âYou sure are good at hiding it.â
Ryan looked confused as if he did not understand what Jeremy was talking about.
He shot back, âDonât you think that somethingâs wrong with you, Jeremy? It seems like not only did the poison change your appearance, but itâs messing with your thoughts as well.â
Jeremyâs gaze darkened. âYouâre right. My thoughts are messed up, and these messed up thoughts of mine are telling me that I want you gone.â
His slender fingers curled around the trigger.
Ryan was about to raise his hand to stop Jeremy when Madelineâs figure flashed in his peripheral vision.
âDonât do it! Jeremy!â
Madeline dashed over to stop him, grabbing Jeremyâs hand and pushing the muzzle away from Ryanâs body.
Jeremy did not expect Madeline to appear. His heart felt as if it was being filled with cotton, suffocating him as he watched her stand in front of Ryan like she was afraid that Ryan would be hurt.
He gripped the gun, his finger pulling around the corner of the trigger.
Madeline had rushed over after receiving a call from Mrs. Jones and was met with such a sight upon entering the door. She had no idea why Jeremy was furious, and from the corner of her eyes, she saw the photographs on the ground.
She had merely taken a quick sweeping look at them when her heart began to race.
She quickly picked a few of them up to take a closer look, her mind buzzing. She could completely understand why Jeremy looked like he wanted to kill somebody.
Madeline balled the photographs in her clenched fists.
She finally understood why someone wanted her to sleep with Ryan.
Her chest tightened, and she did not dare to meet Jeremyâs gaze at all.
Looking at the brown envelope, it dawned on Madeline that Jeremy must have been in his office when he saw those photographs. That was why his expression had been so cold and dark.
âWhat are you doing just standing there, Eveline? Your ex-husband just hit Rye. Are you not going to do anything at all?â Mrs. Jonesâ voice broke the silence around them.
Madeline glanced at Ryan. âTake care of yourself.â
Then, she went up to grab Jeremyâs hand. âLetâs go, Jeremy.â
âWhat are you doing, Eveline? Youâre just going to leave Rye here and walk away with your ex-
husband?â Mrs. Jones was displeased but did not dare walk up to stop them.
She was afraid of Jeremy, and more importantly, she was terrified of the gun in his hand.
âJust stop, Mom.â Ryan looked at Madeline. âGo, Eveline.â
Despite being pulled along by Madeline, Jeremy turned back to look at Ryan and raised his gun again.
He then pulled the trigger without hesitation.
Bang!
The vase behind Ryan instantly shattered.
âAh!â Mrs. Jones screamed.
Madeline turned to look at the man oozing with fury. He was warning Ryan, âThis is only the beginning.â
Jeremy spat out those words and pulled his hand away from Madelineâs grasp before he strode out the door.
âJeremy.â Madeline chased after him.
