Mu Cidian looked at Wan Quan.

He studied her extreme and furious state.

He said, “You should rest well, I don’t want to argue with you over these things.”

“You rest now.” He turned and sat on the couch nearby.

He did not leave, but he certainly would not be the one to engage in a conversation.

Wan Quan, still steaming, held back from arguing with Mu Cidian.

She clearly understood that even if she were to lay on her deathbed, Mu Cidian would not sever ties with Xin Zaozao.

She must find an alternate plan.

Mu Cidian pursed his lips, “Not with female friends.”

“Mu Cidian. Why do you keep rejecting me? Are you afraid I’ll come between you and Xin Zaozao?”

“Yes, I admit that I’m fond of you and have liked you for many years. I always hoped there would come a day when you would reciprocate my feelings. Lei Qian turned and ran off.

She got in the driver’s seat and sped off.

Mu Cidian watched the departing lights of the car.

His mind was somewhat unsettled by Lei Qian’s words.

He turned and entered the compound.

Just as he walked in, he saw Xin Zaozao at the entrance of the neighborhood.

Mu Cidian was startled.

In the somewhat dim lighting, he didn’t know how long Xin Zaozao had been standing there.

He forced a smile, “Coming back so late tonight?”

Xin Zaozao responded with a grunt.

She had worked overtime today, and the driver had dropped her home. As she had just entered the neighborhood, she heard a familiar female voice. Turning her head, she saw Mu Cidian and Lei Qian at the gate.

She had heard all their conversations.

Not that she intended to eavesdrop, but after all, she was part of their conversation, so it wasn’t really eavesdropping.

The two of them walked into the house together.

Mu Cidian asked, “Have you had dinner?”

Xin Zaozao didn’t answer.

“What do you feel like eating?” Mu Cidian opened the fridge.

There was really very little food.

Because recently he had devoted most of his energy to looking after Wan Quan, he barely had time to take care of Xin Zaozao’s daily routines.

“How about I order takeout?” Mu Cidian said, looking at the hardly anything edible in the fridge.

“You eat me out,” Xin Zaozao suddenly spoke.

“What?” Mu Cidian seemingly didn’t hear it.

“You eat me out,” Xin Zaozao repeated, louder this time.

It was evident that she was not in a good mood.

“Give me a moment,” Mu Cidian said, walking out of the kitchen towards Xin Zaozao, who was sitting on the sofa, “I need to wash up.”

Xin Zaozao frowned, “Wash what?”

Mu Cidian smiled suggestively.

Only then did Xin Zaozao understand.

Her face turned beet red.

She was already in a bad mood and now Mu Cidian dared to make this kind of joke with her.

She turned her body to one side.

Mu Cidian sat down beside Xin Zaozao.

Xin Zaozao purposely moved a little farther away.

Mu Cidian pulled her closer into his embrace.

Xin Zaozao shifted uncomfortably.

Mu Cidian held her tightly.

He said, “Did you hear what Lei Qian said?”

Xin Zaozao kept shifting her body, not answering.

“Sometimes I can’t help being too charming.”

“What are you boasting about,” Xin Zaozao was a little irritated.

“Finally willing to talk?” Mu Cidian smiled.

“Let me go.”

“If you keep wriggling like this, I can’t guarantee what I’ll do, like the thing I mentioned before.”

Xin Zaozao quietened instantly.

Mu Cidian felt her quiet down and a smile spread across his face.

Xin Zaozao said, intentionally sounding casual, “Lei Qian is such a good girl, are you willing to let her down?”

“Are you really jealous?”

“I just think it’s a pity. A girl has loved you for so many years, not asking for anything in return but wanting to be by your side, I find it really touching.”

“So why weren’t you moved?” Mu Cidian asked.

“How do you know I wasn’t moved,” Xin Zaozao frowned.

“I’ve loved you for so many years, not asking for anything in return but wanting to be by your side, aren’t you moved?” Mu Cidian asked.

Xin Zaozao’s heart fluttered.

Mu Cidian still held her in his embrace.

The two of them fell silent for a while.

After a while, Xin Zaozao said, “Mu Cidian, you really have no shame.”

“Where am I shameless?”

“The 200k I pay every month, is that for a dog?”

“…” Mu Cidian had no words.

The next second he couldn’t help but chuckle.

Xin Zaozao felt bewildered by Mu Cidian’s laughter.
