Chapter Nineteen
The Purple Backpack ✔️
PIERRA'S POV
We spotted Bishop and Whitney immediately we walked into the restaurant downstairs. It was not hard to notice them anyway seeing as Whitney was wearing a hot pink dress and Bishop was well, Bishop.
"Remember just try and be nice."I whispered to Andrew as we got closer.
"Only if he is nice first, I'm not letting him walk all over me just to keep the peace."He replied and I frowned.
I had already talked to Bishop and asked him to be nice. I just hoped he would hold up his end of the deal as I didn't want to have to break up a fight between my brother and my boyfriend.
"He will be."I said more to encourage myself than Andrew.
They both looked up when we got to their table. Whitney smiled while Bishop just stared at us with a blank look, at least it was better than a glare or a frown. Andrew stood aside to let me sit first opposite Whitney while he sat facing Bishop. We were in for an awkward meal but it was the first step to get them to start getting along. I hoped they fixed their relationship as I wasn't willing to pick between the two. Bishop was my brother who I loved so much but if everything went well Andrew and I would become more than just boyfriend and girlfriend as time went on and I didn't want it to always be awkward between them.
"We all know each other so no introductions needed but Andre this is Whitney my brothers girlfriend, Whitney this is Andrew my boyfriend."I introduced the two who shook hands with polite smiles.
I noticed Bishop clench his first when I introduced Andrew as my boyfriend but I chose to ignore him. He'd get used to it sooner or later. Hopefully sooner so we could get over the awkwardness as fast as possible
"You guys make a very cute couple, don't they babe?"Whitney commented but Bishop just grunted his response.
"Thanks Whitney, I think we're very cute too."I replied looking at Andrew only to find him looking at me.
The adoration I found in his eyes made me feel special and warmed me up from the inside.
"Have you guys already ordered?"I asked and Whitney nodded.
"What do you want to eat Ivy, I'll go order for us?"Andrew asked.
"You let him call you Ivy?!"Bishop demanded his voice coming out a little too forcefully.
"Yeah why?"I asked already knowing why but I didn't want him making a big scene.
He was about to reply when he saw the warning look in my eyes and immediately shut his trap.
"I'll have the plain pilau and a can of sprite."I requested Andrew.
He nodded in understanding getting up from the table and heading over to the counter to make our order.
"You haven't told him yet?"Bishop asked immediately Andrew was out of earshot.
"No I haven't, it's too early into our relationship to unload my baggage. I'm sure Whitney here doesn't know everything about you."I replied getting defensive.
"Don't bring our relationship into this."Bishop retorted and I rolled my eyes at him.
"You agreed to be nice otherwise my next call will be to dad about your illegal business here at school."I said reminding him of my threat.
"You've never held that over me before, what's so special about this boy?"Bishop asked referring to Andrew as if he was a child yet he was only a year older than him.
"Everything."I answered that word holding a deep meaning.
"You guys fight a lot but it just shows how much you love and care for each other."Whitney commented and neither of us bothered to reply.
It was true but Bishop took his responsibility as my big brother a little too far at times. He never gave me the chance to love and make my own mistakes. It was cute and all when we were younger but I wanted to be a grown woman without being in the cocoon of my big brother.
Andrew came back with our food while the waitress helped him carry Bishops and Whitney's order. Andrew had the same order as me except his Pilau had chicken. Bishop was having white rice and stew while Whitney had ordered Spaghetti with cut up sausages in it.
We ate in silence for a while and it was definitely uncomfortable but it had to do until Andrew and Bishop became more comfortable around each other.
"Mom and dad called to remind me about the family trip next month."Bishop informed me and I smiled thinking about how much fun my family and I had during those trips.
Andrew looked at me confused so I explained it to him "Each year during the school holidays our family takes a trip to any part of the country. Each year a different member of the family chooses. This time it was my mom's turn and she chose Eliye Springs Resort in Lodwar."
"We have exams in two weeks."Andrew pointed out and I nodded.
"Yeah and we're leaving immediately after we're both done with our exams."I replied and he nodded.
I hadn't thought about how that would affect our relationship but the school break was only a month so we wouldn't be apart for too long.
"Still on the topic, I invited Whitney to tag along."Bishop announced and I turned to look at him so fast that I got a whiplash.
"You can't be serious, it's a family affair which means family members only."I countered glaring at him.
"Mom already said yes so there's nothing you can do to stop it."Bishop retorted with a smug look on his face and I felt like stabbing him with a fork.
"Well if Whitney is coming then so is Andrew. I'm sure mom will be thrilled considering she's been waiting forever for me to get a boyfriend."I declared with a daring look on my face.
Two surprised faces turned to look at me. Bishop looked angry while Andrew was just shocked. I hadn't thought it through, just blurted it out to piss Bishop off but the more the thought settled in my head the more desirable it became.
"I am?"Andrew asked and I nodded.
"Of course you are, Bishop turned it into a family and significant other trip and you are my significant other so why shouldn't you come."I replied.
"You can't be serious?"Bishop argued glaring at me.
"If Whitney is going, why can't Andrew?"I asked him.
"Because you've only been dating for a week. "He replied earning and eye roll from me.
"And your relationship is purely physical so what's your point?"I retorted.
Whitney who had been silent the whole time gasped but didn't dare speak up.
"Dad won't allow it!"Bishop declared and I laughed at how pathetic his argument was.
"Yes he will, you forget I'm his little girl. He always gives in and I'm the perfect daughter. Besides he always asked me to never hide my relationships from him so it's been decided Andrew is coming to Lodwar with us."I finalized.
"Shouldn't Andrew have a say in this?"Andrew asked referring to himself in third person.
"You'll love my family I promise, everyone is nice unlike Bishop, you'd think he was the adopted one."I replied and Bishop snorted.
"We'll talk about this later and I'm sure I'll convince you."I told Andrew and he nodded in agreement.
I didn't want to give Bishop the pleasure of him seeing me argue with Andrew incase it came to that.
Bishop glared at me but gave up when he saw that I wasn't backing down. We ate the rest of lunch in silence while I thought about how I was going to convince Andrew to tag along. I was sure my parents wouldn't mind. My mom was always asking when I would get a boyfriend and my dad dotted on me so they would be easy to convince. Getting Andrew to agree would be the challenge but with my feminine charms I was guaranteed to win him over.
When lunch ended Bishop and Whitney left while Andrew and I went back up to his room.
He took off his shoes before getting on the bed leaning back on the headboard. Not liking the distance between us I took off my shoes and crawled into the bed straddling him.
"Not going to work."Andrew declared glaring at me.
"What?"I asked confused as I hadn't even said anything yet.
"You and your feminine charms that I'm sure your planning to use on me."He replied and I laughed.
"You sure about that?"I asked running my manicured nails over his chest.
"Yes.... No.... But seriously Ivy, I can't come with you. Your brother is right, we've only been dating a week. I can't meet your parents."He argued.
"Yes you can, by the time we meet them we'll have dated for more than a month and I thought time was irrelevant between us."I said.
"Stop using my own words against me."
"My family will love you, honestly and I can prove it to you."I declared retrieving my phone from my pocket.
"What are you doing?"Andrew asked and I shushed him.
"Just listen and don't say anything."I requested dialing my mom and putting the call on loudspeaker.
Andrew saw who I was calling and immediately shut up the words he was about to speak drying on his lips.
She picked up almost immediately.
"The princess finally remembered to call me."My mom exclaimed dramatically.
"Hi mom."I greeted cheerfully happy to hear her voice.
"Hi princess, how are you doing?"She asked.
"I'm doing good, how are you and dad? "I asked remembering my younger brothers were in boarding school so she wouldn't know about them.
"We're happy and healthy. Your dad is asleep on the sofa right now. I'll send you a picture."She told me with a laugh and I knew he must have fallen asleep in a funny position.
"Okay mom. I was actually calling about the trip."I spoke up looking at Andrew who looked like he was holding his breath.
"Yes I already talked to your brother and he told me he was bringing a girl called Whitney. I thought he was dating a Samantha."She asked and I laughed.
"You know how Bishop is but this one is special mom."I replied honestly.
Even if I didn't like Whitney she had dated my brother longest of all his previous conquests. I wasn't about to bad mouth her or Bishop to our mom, I'd let her discover the truth on her own.
"Oh well it's okay, I'm sure she's a nice girl. Are you coming alone or?"My mom asked sounding hopeful as always.
"That's why I called. I have a boyfriend now and was wondering if I could bring him."I asked biting my lip.
Andrew was anticipating the answer just as much as I was, I just didn't know if was hoping for a yes or a no. It was silent on the other end of the line for a moment and I thought I had lost my mom until she shouted making me laugh. I heard a loud thud on her end of the call before my dad's freaked out voice came through.
"What is it? Why are you screaming?"He asked and I laughed some more imagining him waking up to my mom screaming looking all sleepy and disoriented.
I really missed my family.
"Pierra is bringing her boyfriend to the trip."My mom explained her voice getting high pitched because of the excitement.
"My God woman you scared me. Don't do that. Wait did you say my princess is bringing a boy on the trip. Since when is she old enough to date?" He asked and I smiled.
To my dad I was still his little girl.
"Don't listen to your father. I'm happy you're bringing someone Pierra and we can't wait to meet him."My mom spoke up addressing me.
"Thanks mom."
"Anytime princess, I'll make all the necessary travel arrangements and readjust the accommodation details."My mom said sounding very happy.
"Tell him to bring a code of conduct form."My dad yelled from a distance.
"No he won't, see you soon princess. Say hello to the lucky guy."My mom asked.
I looked at Andrew with a mischievous grin on my face but he caught onto my plan quick and slapped his hand over my mouth before I could talk and hang up the call.
"You are dangerous."Andrew scolded releasing my mouth confirming that I really had hung up.
"I just wanted you to say hi to my parents."I argued.
"I'll see them in Lodwar so let's leave the introductions for then."He replied and I smiled.
"Does that mean I've convinced you to come with me?"I asked and he shrugged.
"If don't go now, I'll be the bad guy. I also won't let Bishop have the satisfaction of not seeing me go."He answered.
"You are the best boyfriend ever."I exclaimed pecking his lips.
"Well according to your parents I'm your only boyfriend ever."He declared cockily.
"That they know of so get off your high horse."I countered and he frowned.
"Couldn't let me have that one could you?"He asked and I shook my head.
"Nope."
"Do I really have to bring a code of conduct certificate?"Andrew asked and I laughed.
"No that's just the policeman in my dad talking."I replied and he visibly relaxed.
"Good because I was arrested once and don't want your dad knowing that."He explained and I looked at him shocked.
"Why were you arrested?"
"I don't have a criminal record because I gave them a fake name but you can never be too sure. I was arrested for doing a photoshoot on the railway tracks."He replied.
"I didn't know that was illegal."
"Me either until I was in cuffs but I hid the cameras memory card so they didn't have the evidence of the images I took. Ned also has connections there so he got me out fast."
"Wow you really are a bad boy."I grinned.
"No I'm not."He denied.
"Yes you are. You have a tattoo, you drink and have a criminal record."I insisted.
"No I don't, I just got arrested and those qualities don't make me a bad boy."
"They do in my book and you know what bad boys get?" I asked my voice dropping an octave lower.
"What?"Andrew inquired swallowing heavily when he saw the wanton look on my face.
I didn't reply just dropped my lips to his in a searing kiss showing him just how much the thought of him being a bad boy turned me on. We didn't have sex just did a lot of nasty stuff to each other that I found myself enjoying immensely.
