Chapter 176 How to Defend Herself The scissors were her usual ones. If the killer wore gloves, only her fingerprints would be on them.

“Dr. Ella, all the signs are pointing to you, so we need to hold you for a bit to look into it further.” Sonya bit her lip hard, saying, “I understand, but I didn’t kill her.”

“Think carefully. Was anyone at the basketball court last night who can vouch for you? “Besides the guy playing, I didn’t see anyone.”

Sonya signed. However, she knew she was innocent.

She couldn’t grasp how she ended up in such trouble. Odette had randomly bothered her, died mysteriously in her home, and she was now a suspect.

By the third day, someone had hired a lawyer for her.

At that time, Sonya was unsure how to defend herself and seeing the lawyer surprised her.

“Cody?”

Cody nodded and smiled, “Ms. Ella, Mr. Sullivan hired me to be your lawyer. You can relax now.”

“Don’t be, Ms. Ella. I work for Mr. Sullivan, so it’s my job. Besides, I guess you and Mr. Sullivan don’t need to be formal.”

Cody joked, waved, and left.

Jake, Leo, Lily, Simon, and Jasmine were waiting outside.

When she came out, they rushed over.

“Sonya, are you okay?” Lily inquired, her eyes red.

Sonya smiled.

Then she saw a tall man pushing a bike from the east parking lot. She guessed he was the one who testified for her and ran over.

“Thank you, sir,” she told the man.

He was tall and slim, in a white sports outfit, with short hair and a handsome face. His eyes smiled, making him seem friendly.

He recognized Sonya immediately, shaking his head with a smile, “I was biking there that day and saw a basketball court with a ball but no players. I thought I’d play a bit before heading home. I noticed you, looking distracted, sighing and checking your phone. I didn’t realize such a big thing was happening. If I had known, I would have come to testify sooner.”

“So, how did you know?”

“Oh, someone found me and told me.”

“Who was that?”

“Mr. Sullivan? I heard someone call him that.”

Sonya sighed, figuring it was Henry.

“Still, thanks for testifying for me.”

“It’s what I should do.”

The man checked his watch, looking busy. “I need to go. Maybe we’ll meet again.”

Lily said she took time off from the film crew to be here and would rush back after lunch.
