What Happens at the CCPD

"What's this?" Barry asked, walking up to Joe with a memo in hand.
Joe glanced at it and grinned, "Oh! It's the reminder to get your tickets for the Central City Crash Up Derby."
Barry blinked at him, "... The what?"
"The crash up derby. Every year the CCPD enters a driver and we raise money. Plus it's just really fun." Joe explained.
"Really?" Barry asked skeptically.
"Yup!"
Barry shrugged, "Alrighty then. Guess I'll get me a ticket."

"I can't believe Joe managed to convince you to come," Margot said, plopping nest to Barry with a jumbo corn dog.
"Well, you know, maybe I'll like it." Barry said, though he didn't sound as if he believed it. "But if anything I'm just here to cheer on Otto."
Bree smiled sympathetically, "watching people smash into each other not your cup of tea?"
Barry simply shrugged.
Singh, Joe, and Bree sat behind Barry and Margot, all eagerly awaiting the event.
First, there were the time trials.
Barry had to admit, the cars were very cool and even just watching a single car drive around loud engines and high speeds were quite thrilling. Barry found himself getting more excited than he anticipated.
Then, the first race.
A grin lit up Barry's face as the cars took off. Almost immediately, two cars crashed into each other, and Barry felt this strange giddiness.
"This is so cool," Barry whispered to himself. He felt like a child, watching cars crash and getting super excited, clapping and jumping in his seat.
Everyone was cheering and Barry was cheering just as loud as any of them.
Otto was in the second race.
Barry determined that this was the absolute most epic thing he'd ever done.
The racers revved their engines, eliciting a roar from the crowd. Barry among the loudest.
Otto rammed into another car and Barry whooped.
"YES! WOO! GO OTTO! CRUSH THEM ALL!"
His friends looked at him, shocked.
Margot sported a proud grin as Barry continued to shout and cheer.
Singh blinked a few times, "Um Allen-"
An epic crash occurred between three cars.
Barry and Margot both jumped up whooping wildly.
Singh clamped his mouth and looked at Joe. Joe shrugged and both men turned back to the races, laughing at Barry's enthusiasm.
Between the races Joe leaned down to Barry, "Enjoying yourself Bar?"
"This is so cool!!" Barry shouted, grinning maniacally. "Did you see how they crashed?! It was epic!! The way that one guy caught fire! And poor number three just got pulverized!! It was INSANE!!"
"You're shouting!" Singh yelled.
"What?!" Barry asked.
"You! Are! Shouting!"
"Oh!" Barry grinned sheepishly.
"Look Barry!" Margot yelled pointing at an aqua car with sprinkles and teeth, "It's cupcake!"
Barry laughed.
If Barry thought the races were cool, he was going to go crazy when the actual crash up derby event started.
And go crazy he did.
Because there was just something about watching a bunch of people purposefully crash into each other that was so awesome.
Barry hooted and hollered the loudest out of everyone.

Barry came into work the next day, yawning but grinning, the exhilaration of the previous night still lingering.
"So I take it you enjoyed the Derby?" Bree asked.
"It was great!" Barry yelled coarsely.
"Inside voice, Allen," Singh said coming up with Otto and Margot.
"Sorry," he whispered, "I still can't hear very well."
Margot laughed, "Your voice sounds terrible."
"Not surprised," Otto said, "I could actually hear him while I was racing. That is quite the accomplishment. All of you are underachievers."
"Excuse you," Margot said, placing a hand over her heart in mock offense.
Barry looked at them, "So this is annual right?"
Everyone laughed.
"Yes Barry," Bree said.
Barry pumped his fists, "Yesss."

A/N- so I went to a Crash Up Derby for the first time last night and it was so dam cool. Epic. Awesome. Loud.
Here's some pictures (Sorry they're sideways):
I'm still just baffled at how watching a bunch of people purposefully crash can bring so much joy. But whatever.
Sorry if this wasn't my best, but they can't all be winners.
Love y'all! :)
