Colors

This is an AU of the pilot episode. So pre lightning and post lightning.

Barry trudged away from STAR labs sadly. Just his luck that he'd miss the cutoff in line. And then proceed to get punched in the face by a kid who tried to steal Iris' bag.

The dreary blue-grey world matched his mood. The only exception being the bright red streetlights and stop signs.

For all of Barry's life, he had tritanopia, a type of color blindness. Everything was shades of blue, typically a duller blue-grey that made the world feel dreary. The only other color he could really see was red.

Red was his absolute favorite color, a big part of the reason being it was the most lively and wonderful color he could see.

Barry walked up to his lab, holding a tissue to his bloody nose. He threw away the tissue, stained with red and sat down at his desk with a sigh.

Barry picked up his pen and twirled it in his fingers.

He always made a point of getting things that were red. His pen was red. His paperclips were red. His mug was red. The string tying all the clues of his mother's murder together was red.

Barry turned on the computer, the reporter talking about the weather and how it might affect the particle accelerator. He lifted his board to see all the red string and he pinned the Starling City case up there.

At least he got to meet the Arrow. Barry was pretty sure his outfit was green, but he couldn't really tell. It just looked like another shade of blue to him.

The reporter's voice had become alarmed, and Barry turned around and watched the computer.

"Officials are now trying to shut down the Particle Accelerator, but so far have been unable to regain control of the system-"

The computer shut off and Barry looked out his window to see an explosion of red around STAR labs. Some sort of energy pulsed throughout the city.

Barry noticed that water was leaking through the skylight and he went to go close it. As he was tugging on the chains, he felt something odd. He glanced up to see the liquids in his beakers floating in the air.

A rumble of thunder caught his attention and Barry looked up at the skylight.

The last thing Barry felt was electricity coursing through him and the last thing he saw was a flash of red.

***** LINE BREAK *****

Barry started to come to to the sound of... Lady Gaga?

He was so confused. Then he heard voices.

"What are you doing?" One voice said.

"He likes this song." Another voice said.

"How could you possibly know that?" the first voice, definitely female, asked.

Barry was starting to see. The first thing to catch his attention was the first person's red Twizzlers.

"I checked his Facebook page," the first person said, "I mean, he can hear everything right?"

Barry tried to open his eyes more, what the hell was going on? Who were these people?

"Auditory functions are the last sensory faculties to degenerate." The girl said.

Barry could see she had pretty auburn hair.

'Wait...'

'Auburn?!?'

Barry bolted upright with a gasp.

"Oh my god." The boy said.

'There were so many colors!'

"Where am I?" Barry asked. 'How could he see so many colors?'

"He's up," the girl with the auburn hair said.

Barry could see a container full of yellow fluid on a table in front of him. There was green and teal on the monitors surrounding him.

"Dr. Wells, get down to the cortex like right now," the boy said.

The girl was rambling things as she shone a light in Barry's eyes.

"Pupils, equally reactive to light."

'So many colors,' Barry thought. Everything was so overwhelming. And there were so many colors!

"Hey look at me," the girl said.

"Whoa whoa, relax man," the boy said. He had black hair and tan skin. His shirt had orange and green on it. "You're at STAR labs."

"Star labs?" Barry asked, "Who are you?"

"I'm Cisco Ramon, this is Caitlin- Dr. Snow." He introduced.

"I need you to urinate in this," Caitlin said, holding up a cup.

"Not right this second." Cisco said, snatching the cup away with his hand that held his red Twizzler.

"Wait wait, what is happening?" Barry asked, stepping away from the pair. "What is going on?"

"You were struck by lightning dude," Cisco said.

"Wha-" Barry turned around and caught his reflection. "Lightning... gave me abs?"

"Your muscles should be atrophied, but instead they're in a chronic and unexplained state of cellular regeneration." Caitlin said.

"Come here, have a seat," Cisco said, pulling him back to the bed. Barry's eyes kept going to his red Twizzler, the only thing he seemed to be able to make sense of. "You were in a coma."

'Wait what?'

"For how long?"

"Nine months," a new voice said. Barry whipped around to see the Dr. Wells. And even more colors.

After talking with Dr. Wells, Barry thanked them all and ran out to go see Iris.

When he stepped outside, the his breath left him in a rush.

There were so many colors.

As he walked through town, he couldn't pull his eyes away from the sights.

There were neon signs. There were cars all colors of the rainbow. People's clothes danced with colors and patterns that popped. The red street lights were accompanied by red and yellow. There were people with blonde hair and brown hair and pink hair.

Barry had never seen most of these colors before and his mind was going crazy.

He wondered what he looked like. He caught his reflection and saw that he had brown had and green eyes. He knew he had green eyes. Everyone told him that he had really nice green eyes. But Barry had never actually seen the color of his eyes before now.

He rushed into Jitters. He saw Iris, more beautiful than ever before.

She saw him and rushed over. "Barry! You're awake! Why didn't STAR labs call us?"

"I just woke up," he said, still grinning.

"Should you even be on your feet?" Iris asked.

"Iris, I'm okay." He said. "I'm better than okay."

Iris gave him a questioning smile.

Barry's smile widened.

"Iris I can see."

A/N- I'm back y'all! Not dead! Sorry it took me so long to get something posted. I'm pretty proud of this one, dunno if it's any good, but I liked it.
