Nightmares Part 1

What Happens at the CCPD

A meta that can make people relive their worst nightmares visits the CCPD. Takes place after Henry's death but before Flashpoint. WARNING! Suicidal thought in this one. Please don't read if that will affect you. Stay safe and happy!

**********

The man walked towards the precinct. A police station always reeked with fear. And he loved fear.

**********

Barry sat at his desk, completely numb. He mindlessly worked, completing files. No matter how many times everyone has told him to take time off of work, Barry refused.

Barry finished some files and headed down to give them to Singh.

He knocked and entered the office. "Here Captain." Barry said.

Singh watched as Barry walked into his office. Barry shouldn't be here. His dad just died. Why the hell is he at work.

Singh watched with concern as his CSI gave him more paperwork. He could see the bags under his eyes, but what concerned Singh more was the light that was missing from Barry's eyes.

"Allen..." Singh said, he sighed, "... thanks."

Barry nodded and headed out. Joe intercepted Barry.

"Bar," he said.

"Hi Joe." Barry said.

"Barry, please," Joe said.

Barry cut him off, "I know what you're gonna say Joe, and the answer is still no."

Joe sighed in defeat. "Okay."

***********

The elevator dinged, and the man walked in. His eyes landed on a tall brunet. He could practically see the fear, the pain, and the pure anguish seeping out of him. With a grin, he headed towards his target.

**********

Barry made eye contact with a man as he walked towards the elevator. His eyes were pitch black, and it sent chills down Barry's spine. Barry suddenly felt full of fear. Then the man gripped his arm and stared at him.

"Sweet dreams," he whispered.

And that was the last thing Barry heard before he blacked out.

**********

Joe was talking with Singh when he saw the strangest man walk out of the elevator. Even from the distance, Joe could see that his eyes seemed to be bottomless, black pits. Suddenly, the man grabbed Barry's arm and Barry fell unconscious.

"Barry!" Joe yelled, racing towards the man.

Singh drew his gun and followed Joe.

The man smiled, "Hello."

All the surrounding officers felt chills.

"What did you do to him!" Joe yelled.

The man set Barry down on the ground.

"I put him to sleep." he said. "He's dreaming."

Singh was mad. Mad that this could happen in the middle of a freaking police station.

"I smell so much fear in here." The man said. "And most of it was coming from this young man right here."

"What did you do to him?" Singh asked.

"He's dreaming." The man said.

"Dreaming what?" Joe asked.

"Bad dreams." he said, "Terrible dreams. Nightmares."

**********

Barry blinked a couple of times, taking in his surroundings. He was back in his old house. He walked downstairs and saw the last thing he wanted to see.

He had already relived it so many times. He couldn't do this. Not again.

Barry found that he couldn't move as he watched the Reverse Flash stab his mother. Tears streamed down his face. It still hurt. Barry didn't think it would ever not hurt.

Then the dream shifted.

He watched as Zoom snapped his spine. Fire raced through his nerves, and he yelled in pain, collapsing.

But that wasn't even as horrible as the next image he was shown.

A fresh wound was being opened again. Not that it was even healed to begin with.

Zoom plunged his hand through his father's chest.

It was even more horrible the second time.

Then the images started to play again. Three of the worst moments of his life. He had to watch them over and over again.

Then he started to hear voices. Telling him that this was his fault. All of it. If he had just died that night instead of his mom, both of his parents would be alive right now.

Barry covered his ears in an attempt to block out the voices. The only problem was, it was his own voice telling him. And his parents. And his enemy's. And his friends. Everyone was telling Barry that all this was his fault.

And Barry believed it.

The memories kept replaying. Over and over. And the voices kept talking. And Barry kept sinking.

Eventually, the voices were telling him that he should just end it now before he caused any more deaths.

And Barry found himself agreeing.

He was finally able to move. He found himself walking forward. He wasn't sure where. When he spotted walking, he realized that he was at the edge of the cliff that he used to practice getting faster.

He should've died that day. But Cisco had brought his drones along. If he had just died that day, his dad would still be alive. Zoom would be satisfied being the fastest and leave.

Barry inched closer to the edge.

"What are you waiting for?" He asked himself, "too selfish to do what needs to be done?"

He closed his eyes and put one foot over the edge. He took a deep breath and...

*********

"Cisco!" Joe shouted as the engineer and bio engineer raced into the precinct.

The nightmare man had left, but everyone was too concerned for Barry to go after him. Joe had immediately dialed Cisco and Caitlin.

"What happened?!" Caitlin yelled, rushing to Barry's side.

"Some creep whammied him." Joe said, "he just fell unconscious and he won't wake up."

"Cisco, go get the crash cart!" Caitlin yelled.

Five long minutes later, Barry was hooked up to a heart monitor.

"His corals are all over the place," Caitlin said.

"Why?" Singh asked.

Caitlin bout her lip and looked at the captain, "I don't know."

Cisco ran his hand over his face and then touched Barry's hand. He got sucked into a vibe.

Vibe: Barry is watching his worst memories at super speeds. Suddenly, he is at the edge of a cliff. Barry gets gradually closer to the edge. One foot goes over. Cisco's eyes widened, "Barry!"

Cisco is drawn out of the vibe. "Barry!"

" What'd you see? " Joe asked.

"We need to reach him," Cisco said, "now."

" What's wrong? " Caitlin asked.

"He's gonna kill himself."
