That was her exam day, Harika did her exams well and she felt relieved after that. Though she is a good learner, she always fears about her exams. "Hey! How was your exam?" Varsha asked with a smile. "Yeah! It's good. I did well! What about you?" Harika replied with a smile."Not bad! I did well" Varsha smiled. "Why don't we go out for a coffee?" Varsha asked casually, Harika accepted and they both had coffee in the nearby coffee shop."Harika! You never talked about your family. I know you're from America but what about your parents?" Varsha asked casually. "My mom is my only family member. She is an amazing women whom I admired the most. She was my inspiration. She taught me independence and strengthen me from my young age. I love her the most! And that is the reason I came here to pursue my degree. I loved to visit the place where she born and brought up" Harika replied with a smile."That's nice! Don't you have any other relatives? Grandparents? Father?" Varsha asked with hesitation.Harika smiled, "As I said I don't have anyone other than my mom" she replied the same. Varsha didn't ask any further questions and they talked about few random stuffs.Harika really liked Varsha's company. She was not like others but seemed so different and her nature attracted her. In her whole life, Varsha was the only person she shared about herself."Ok! What's our next plan?" Varsha asked, "now let's go to our room. Tomorrow let's go out somewhere" Harika replied with a smile. Varsha accepted that with amusement.They both reached their room in next fifteen minutes. Harika noticed something. "What's happening there?" Harika's voice was serious. "No Harika! Let's not involve in that. They are our seniors and it will lead some problem" Varsha stopped her."How can we stay numb seeing their crimes?" Harika annoyed. "They are from very big family background and our management will not involve in this issue. So please calm down" Varsha tried to convince her.The girls staying next to their room seemed so dangerous. They used to do all unwanted stuffs in their college hostel. Today they crossed the limit by ragging a fresher girl very badly."Sorry Varsha! I can't tolerate this anymore" Harika left the place. She reached the place and stood facing them."Hey! She came here voluntarily but today we already have this slave so let's see you tomorrow. Now you go to your room" a girl from the gang said having a smirk on her face."Leave the girl. You're crossing your limits. If you don't leave her now then you will face the consequences" Harika said looking straight to her eyes."Look baby! We are in very good mood today so we are leaving you. Leave this place right now. Don't test our patience!" She replied."I'm not leaving this place without the girl. Send her with me" there is no fear on her face. "Hey! Why are you answering this girl! Come in!" Another girl from the gang grabbed her hand.Varsha turned nervous, she went to her classmates room and informed them Harika was alone fighting for the fresher girl. Everyone was afraid about those girls but now they decided to take Harika's side to help her..."But the tragedy happened after that incident. Which we never expected and that shattered my entire family" Gowri couldn't control her tears. "Mom please!" Harish held her arms."After their college, she started working in a well reputed organization. My brother never wanted to disappoint her so he hidden his identity and supported her to work independently. They both stayed together in Bangalore. He requested me to get permission from my father and he too started working in a company in Bangalore.Every day he used to talk with me. The only thing he chanted was her name. From that I understood how much my brother loved her. He also said she has no one in her life and he will protect her like a precious gem. I thought to support him and prayed for his happiness. After few months, he opened up about his love with my parents. My mom accepted happily but my dad was very adamant that time but my mom convinced him. My mom, me and my brother convinced him, it took a whole week to convince him. Everyone was happy. My mom asked him to bring her to our home. He left our house with happiness. That time you was two years old.I don't know what happened between them but my brother returned after a week. His face was pale and he avoided talking with us, he locked himself in his room for next few days. Everyone got panicked by his different behaviour.Next day, I went to his room there I found him crying on the floor. I never saw my brother in that state and my heart ached to see his state. I went near him and consoled him. Finally he uttered what happened in his life.When he asked Harini to marry him, she denied his proposal. My brother asked her the reason and she said that her boss loves her and so she decided to marry him. My brother was taken aback by her confession and begged her to stay with him. But she left him by saying that he will get someone better than her.The love he saved for her in all those years vanished in a second. How can a person tolerate such crucial thing in his life. I know how much he loved that girl. But her betrayal collapsed his entire life. My father asked my brother not to reveal his identity to her and he want a daughter in law who is not greedy about money. This incident revealed her true nature.She used my brother for her safety and left him when her needs were fulfilled and she settled in her life.One day she called him and informed that she is leaving India and going to settle in New York with her fiance. She said her marriage was fixed next month. After that my brother completely lost himself. He started using drugs and alcohol which we couldn't control.He avoided the entire family and lived in the house where they both stayed. He imagined like she was with her and lived his life like a mad man. He totally loss his conscious. Next two years he lived in a hell. My entire family was broken seeing his state and we tried to contact Harini as we thought only she could cure him. But we came to know that she got married and have a child. Even her friends were not aware about her locality.What a selfish mind she have? How could she marry someone so easily when my brother dying here in her thoughts. We consulted several doctors but of no use. All our effort wasted and we couldn't save his life. The drugs affected his brain and he turned mentally affected. After few days we couldn't control him so we admitted in hospital.That incident affected my heart and I was depressed by that time. My mom was completely broken. We saw his state in the hospital, every day he hurt himself which killed us alive. Your dad was near me to console me but your grandmother couldn't tolerate that. She was the one who affected by the incident more.After few days, she got sudden heart attack. We admitted her in the hospital but she left us permanently. I was completely broken that time and that impact made me paralyzed. Doctors adviced me not to visit my brother and that will worsen my health.So your father took us out from my home and we lived away from my home. Because of that greedy devil my entire family suffered and shattered into pieces. My brother is still in that den not realising his true identity. The single lady collapsed my entire family and took away all our happiness. She is the sole reason for all pain I gone through in my life Harish. I know people are greedy.
