Chapter 681
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 681
Yvette gave Melanie a push. âYour guy is here to pick you up.â
Hugh walked in and passed Melanie the fruit juice. He said matterâofâfactly, âI saw lots of people buying this on my way here.â
Melanie had never had specialty drinks like this since she graduated from university. She raised an eyebrow. Before she said anything, Yvette said excitedly, âThis brand has been really popular recently. Thereâs always a long queue at that place.â
She looked enviously at Melanie. âYouâre so lucky.â
Melanie smiled as she took the cup from Hugh. She asked him, âDid Yvonne make you buy this?â
Hugh replied, âShe insisted that this is what a boyfriend should get his girlfriend.â
âWhen are you planning to get one for her?â Yvette had gone off, and Melanie became more casual with her conversation.
Melanie had been in his position before and knew Hugh had feelings for Yvonne.
She looked at the words âOnly Oneâ on the cup and smiled. She placed the fruit juice back in Hughâs hands.
Before she pulled away, Melanieâs phone rang. It was a call from Lee. He asked, â Are you still in the conference hall?â
âYes, I am.â
âWait for us. Mr. Scott and I are on our way. Didnât someone throw something from the second floor the other day? Thereâs a surveillance camera at the top that wasnât turned off. Weâll be coming over with the police.â
Lee hung up after that. Melanie remembered the teapot that was thrown down the other day and looked upstairs.
Melanie had an idea of who the culprit was, but she wanted to see Eugene try to talk his way out of that personâs crime.
Lee and the others arrived very soon. That was when Melanie found out that they were supposed to come over after meeting with a client, but the police suddenly requested them to come over.
Melanie had no idea that Lee had reported this to the police. No one had told her about it.

Hugh had not left and stayed with Melanie. She wanted him to go, but he refused. The first thing Eugene saw when he got out of the car was Hugh and Melanie. standing together. The young man was taller than Eugene. He made Melanie look. petite and adorable when he stood next to her.
She was looking up at Hugh and saying something. There was an exasperated look in her eyes, but she was smiling. Hugh and Melanie seemed to be getting along very well.
Melanie looked at Hugh and said softly, âYou really listen to everything Yvonne says. What did she do to make you so obedient?â
Hugh replied, âShe paid me.â
âHavenât you thought of the possibility that Iâm the one paying you 5,000 a day?â Melanie shook her head. âWhy wonât you listen to me instead?â
She heard footsteps behind her, and a manâs low voice was heard speaking, âThe police are here. Donât you want to go upstairs and have a look at the surveillance footage?â
Melanieâs and Hughâs expressions became more serious when Eugene appeared. Melanie turned to glance at Eugene. âI do.â
It was winter, and the sky turned dark earlier. The lights on the road lit up the space between Melanie and Eugene in the thin mist of the night.
The light made it look like there was a barrier between them.
Melanie and Hugh stood on one side while Eugene stood on the other side.
His dark eyes stared at Melanie for a while before he suddenly moved. He looked like he wanted to go to her.
However, Melanie turned to hold Hugh on the arm before Eugene approached her. âYou should come with me.â
She held Hughâs hand, and they walked past Eugene.
Hugh followed behind her as he looked at Eugeneâs face before walking away.
Eugene stood motionless. The lights shone on his shoulders. He looked calm, but there was a barren, empty look in his deep, dark eyes.
