Chapter 617
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 617
âMaybe the bloodâs congested, causing a belated reaction? I remember Nicole had a similar experience once. She hit her hand on the door, and it didnât swell until the next day.â Yvette looked at Melanieâs hand and murmured first aid methods to her.
Halfway through, Yvette suddenly sensed a cold and stern gaze on her. She paused and turned her head, only to be met with Eugeneâs dark and deep eyes.
With her quick wit, she immediately changed the subject. Putting on a regretful and sad expression, she said, âBut I suggest you go to the hospital for a check- up. We canât be sure if youâve injured your bone.
âWe need to rush back now, though, so weâll have to trouble you, Mr. Scott. Although youâre also injured, youâre still a man. Things should be easier with someone accompanying Melanie,â Yvette said quickly. She then got up and bade farewell to Eugene with her colleagues.
âWeâll leave now. You should go to the hospital to have your injury checked,â Yvette added before leaving with her colleagues.
Melanie also made to leave, but then Eugeneâs voice sounded. âDidnât you hear what she said? Severe injuries can affect the bones.â
âIâll go to the hospital for a checkâup,â she replied.
âOkay.â Eugene nodded. âWait for me to get changed.â.
Melanie glanced back at him. âI can go by myself.â
Eugene had already stood up and was looking down at her from above. His tone remained unchanged as he said, âLike I said, Lee is discussing compensation.â
The implication was clear. He was adamant about accompanying Melanie to the hospital.
After another taxi ride to the hospital, Melanie underwent a series of examinations. The report revealed that it was only subcutaneous bleeding and nothing serious. However, Eugene insisted on another fullâbody examination to ensure that everything was alright before leaving.
Melanie held a stack of examination reports in her hand and asked Eugene, Should I give these reports to you or to Lee?â

Melanie lowered his gaze to her wrist, which was now bruised and slightly swollen. It looked quite alarming. Since Melanie was pregnant, the doctor advised against using too much ointment.
Even when she was treating Eugeneâs wound earlier, she had used cotton swabs. Melanie had felt fine before the symptoms emerged, but now, there was a burning pain in her wrist. Her entire hand felt limp and powerless.
The next moment, a hand reached out in front of her. Eugene immediately took the reports from her hand, saying, âIâll pass them on to Lee.â
Melanie simply nodded.
They then headed back to the hotel. This time, Eugene did not let her upstairs, so Melanie went back to her room on her own. Just when she stepped out of the elevator, however, she saw a familiar figure hurrying past the corner.
She frowned, trying to recall who it was. However, the information dodged her.
Since her hand was injured, Melanie had dinner sent up to her room. Before she could start eating, Henry called to express his concern. âOh dear Mel, what happened? How did you get into an accident? Are you okay? Did you get hurt anywhere? Do you feel unwell?â
Henry bombarded her with a string of questions, filled with genuine concern. Melanie answered each one of them before finally hearing the old man huff indignantly.
âWhoever dares to drink and drive in broad daylight deserves to be sentenced! What if something had happened to you? How would I have coped?â
