Chapter 562
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 562
Xander looked as if he wanted to turn down that suggestion again.
Melanie was afraid he would and quickly said, âBarbecue is fine. I happen to crave for that.â
Xander lifted his eyebrow and said nothing more. The barbecue restaurant was nearby. It was only nine at night after the meal.
Reny found the restaurant. The food was not bad, and the environment was pretty good. Even Melanie found her appetite coming back.
Eugeneâs call came in halfway through the meal. Melanieâs smile faded away upon seeing the caller ID.
She knew Eugene would look for her.
After all, Henry and Clara knew about her pregnancy, and it would not be strange for them to tell Eugene.
She took her phone and excused herself before answering it at a silent corner outside the restaurant.
When she answered the call, the man said nothing.
After a long while, she heard a faint breathing sound.
Then, the man asked in his deep voice, âAre you pregnant?â
Melanie stood under the streetlight and stared at her long shadow as she grunted in response.
âDid you do a pregnancy test?â asked Eugene.
Melanie sighed and said, âItâs unnecessary to ask so many questions. This baby has nothing to do with you.â
Eugene froze and asked her in a calm tone, âItâs not mine?â
He chuckled and asked, âWhoâs the father, then?â
Melanieâs grip on the phone tightened. She felt uncomfortable lying.
She said, âEugene, donât you think youâre being too overconfident?
âDo you really think I need you?â
Melanie scoffed and asked him, âDo you want me to send you the hotel booking itinerary?â
Chapter 562
She had been practicing having to face Eugeneâs questions because she knew he would look for her one day.
Then, she added, âEugene, when I slept with you, we always took precautions. I havenât forgotten the habit.
âSo, after sleeping with you that night, I took the pill in the morning.â
Melanie did not know Eugene was standing before his officeâs French windows as he stared at the city lights in the dark.
Her words were like the night breeze.
His lips were pursed. Suddenly, a deep male voice came from Melanieâs end of the call. âLetâs go back. It looks like itâs about to rain.
Melanie looked at Xander and nodded before hanging up the call.
Xander asked, âDid I interrupt you? The weather forecast said it might rain in 15 minutes, so itâs better to head back quickly.â
Melanie looked at Reny, who was hailing a taxi not far away. She shook her head. âItâs not an important call.â
Xander glanced at her and said, âCome on. Letâs head home.â
The weather forecast was accurate. It rained once they reached the villa.
Frustrated, Simon walked into the bar in his wet clothes while rubbing his hair. â Why is it suddenly raining?â
Then, he saw a familiar figure in the dark drinking a glass of wine. He ordered a glass for himself and asked, âYour expression looks gloomier than the weather outside.â
