Chapter 548
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 548
Xander did not want to listen to Lianaâs nonsense. He silently put down the things they bought and
turned to Melanie, ready to leave.
However, Melanieâs phone rang suddenly. She nodded at Xander and turned to answer the call.
The call was from Stephen. âMel, the charges have been filed based on the other piece of evidence you
submitted earlier.â
Melanieâs eyes hardened. âWhatâs the situation now?â
âQuentin has been called in for questioning. After that, itâs up to the investigators. Maybe Quentin himself can put Viola on the stand.â
âOnce that happens, you just have to submit the evidence you have, and itâll be much smoother sailing from then on.â
Stephenâs words finally lightened Melanieâs mood.
After finding out that Violaâs evidence was flawed and that Eugene was helping her from the
shadows, Melanie had met up with Carlton a few more times.
Carlton had reminded her that Viola was not the only one involved in the whole thing. Quentin was
just as guilty.
Viola had Eugeneâs protection, but Quentin might not.
Melanie had asked Stephen to help her retrieve the surveillance footage from the hotel corridor before pressing charges against Quentin.
If they pressed Quentin hard enough, they might get him to spill everything.
Unbeknownst to Melanie, Liana stopped smiling as soon as she left the room. Liana asked her brother solemnly, âTell me the truth. Mel used to date that Scott jerk, didnât she?â
Xanderâs expression froze, and Liana smirked. âDid you think I wouldnât know if you didnât tell me? I advise you to come clean with me, Xander.â
A mixture of emotions flashed across Xanderâs face, and his eyebrows twitched. In the end, he
admitted it. âYes, but that was in the past.â
Liana stared at him for a long time before she suddenly clicked her tongue. âXander, listen to me. Iâve met Eugene Scott before. Heâs an unromantic asshole.
âIf you canât even beat him, Iâll be ashamed to call you my brother.â
Xander looked at Liana blankly.
Liana rolled her eyes at him. âI guess youâre pretty much the same. Youâre just as dense.â
When Melanie returned to the ward, the atmosphere in the room was strange.

When Liana saw her, she plastered on her smile again, saying happily, âMel, Iâll take you for a race once I get better, okay?â
Almost every time he left Lianaâs room, Xander would feel a little down in the dumps. He looked at Melanie, and Lianaâs words flashed through his mind. âDo you like racing?â
Melanie blinked, confused. âIâve never tried.â
Xander pursed his lips. âMe neither.â
Melanie was still in a daze when she followed Xander to the racing arena. Xander took her around with an air of familiarity without saying anything.
Melanie looked at him, not bothering to hide the doubt in her eyes. âAre you familiar with this place?â
Xanderâs tone was casual. âLiana and I used to hang out here together.â
When he said this, he raised his eyebrows and smiled. His face immediately looked brighter and more youthful.
Melanie smiled back and was about to speak when a wave of nausea hit her.
She frowned and subconsciously raised her hand to cover her mouth. The next second, she gagged.
