Chapter 537
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 537
The vast office was quite empty, and Stella was loud. Melanie could not pretend that she did not hear a thing.
Her relationship with Stella had always been strangers who knew each other a little. There was a time when Melanie had tried her best to get into Stellaâs good graces for Eugeneâs sake.
In the end, she realized that Stella would never like her no matter what she did. That was when Melanie eventually stopped fawning over Stella.
She would only see Stella during parties or celebrations at the Scott household or when Stella needed her help with something.
Most of the time, Melanie would just treat helping Stella as part of her job scope.
She was able to tolerate the situation better once she saw it as part of her job.
When Melanie did not react to Stellaâs words, a condescending look appeared on her exquisitely groomed face. She turned to Evelyn and said, âYou should watch over Eugene once both of you are married. The company is an important place. Not everyone should be let inside here so easily.â
Evelyn followed Stellaâs gaze and looked toward Melanie. She raised an eyebrow in amusement. âIâm not familiar with LeapCoâs rules, but at my motherâs company, no fired employee is allowed to return.â
She lifted her chin slightly after saying this. That arrogant look on her face was just like Stellaâs.
Evelyn asked Melanie, âI heard that youâve been coming to LeapCo quite often because of work. How smart of you to take a different approach with Eugene.â
There were no emotions in Melanieâs eyes. She glanced at Evelyn coldly. âItâs my responsibility to make sure everything runs well in the partnership between LeapCo and Burning Star.
âIf thereâs anything you two arenât happy about, please feel free to talk to Mr. Scott about terminating the contract. Burning Star wouldnât mind at all.â
Her tone was cold, and she sat down right opposite them. âBurning Star will be very grateful if both of you can convince Mr. Scott to terminate the contract. Weâd be paid three times the price for LeapCoâs breach of contract. I thank both of you in advance on behalf of Burning Star.â
Melanie said all this in a calm and collected manner. The look on Stellaâs expression changed.
She glared at Melanie. âWhat right do you have to negotiate terms with me?â
âI think youâre mistaken, Madam Scott.â Melan. ?
continued stoically, âIâm not negotiating
terms with you. Iâm just giving both of you a suggestion.
âIf you donât like me coming over to LeapCo, we might as well terminate the contractâ¦â
Melanie had only said this halfway when she heard steady footsteps approaching.
A manâs low and intimidating voice was heard. âTerminate the contract? Do you think LeapCo

is made out of fools, Melanie?â
Eugene came over with a frosty look on his face. His gaze stopped for a while on Melanieâs face, and he later looked at Stella to ask, âWhat are you doing here?â
Stella was unhappy with his attitude. However, Evelyn was present, so she held back her temper to say, âEvelyn wants to gain experience and learn from you, so I brought her over. Youâre getting married in the future, anyway. Itâs a good opportunity for you to spend time getting to know each other better.â
Eugene looked at her stoically. There was a dark look in his deep eyes. He had a nice-looking jawline, and he was wearing a dark gray suit that made him look even more serious.
He looked at Evelyn and asked in a low voice, âDonât you have enough to learn at Ms. Turnerâs company?â
A small smile appeared on Evelynâs red lips. She replied cheerfully, âWhat can I learn from my familyâs business? No one dares let me do anything. Why donât you just teach me, Eugene? You donât need to give in to me on anything just because of my mom.â
âEvelyn wants to learn from you. Just take her with you and spend some time getting to know each other better,â Stella quickly said after Evelyn was done. She even added after that, âIt would do good to stop some people from having any wishful thinking.â
The last sentence was clearly meant for Melanie. Stella had grown up with a silver spoon, and she was used to being the person at the top of the pyramid. After what happened with Cedric, she was even more convinced of how important a personâs family background was.
She truly looked down on Melanie and her family
