Chapter 532
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 532
Melanie glanced at her. âStop teasing me.â
She was still feeling a little tired, so she went upstairs to wash up. It felt more comfortable to lay in bed after that.
However, she was still wide awake and did not feel sleepy at all.
Melanie charged her phone and clicked on Violaâs voice recording. She clicked on a few voice recordings of George as well to listen to them.
With these submitted as evidence, there was no way Viola could get away with it.
Melanie pressed her lips. There was a determined look in her eye.
That afternoon, she felt much better and gave Stephen a call to meet up.
Stephen looked terrible. There were dark circles under his eyes.
Melanie asked, âWhat happened to you?â
Stephen waved her off. âItâs nothing.â
He was not willing to talk about it, and Melanie did not ask further. She placed a flash drive in front of him. âHereâs a voice recording of Viola coercing George. Thereâs also evidence of Viola working together with Quentin to drug me. Itâs all in here.â
Stephen took the flash drive from her, and his voice suddenly turned grim. âDid you just say they drugged you?â
Melanie told him what happened the night before.
Stephenâs face fell. He asked Melanie, âDoes Eugene know about this?â
Melanie looked down. âThis has nothing to do with him.â
âThis has everything to do with him. Isnât he very defensive of Viola? He should see for himself what kind of person the woman heâs trying to protect really is!â
It was rare for Stephen to lose his temper. He grabbed the flash drive from the table. âDonât worry, Mel. Theyâll get what they deserve.â
Melanie had decided to hand over the evidence to Stephen because Dylan and Georgeâs case had been handled very well with his help.
This was because the Yorks had the right connections.
Melanie would not have been able to get this done well if she had to rely on her own.
After all, Mason had the backing of Rockwater, Quentin was supported by Vanke, and Viola had Eugene to protect her.
Stephen now sounded a little emotional when he spoke.
Melanie had been friends with him for many years. She asked in a low voice, âIs there something bothering you?â
Stephen suddenly went into a daze as he looked at Melanie.

Half of Melanieâs face was lit up by the light from the angle at which Stephen was looking at her, and she seemed to look like someone he knew.
He began mumbling, âMel, do you know anyone in Oskon City?â
The topic changed quite abruptly, and it took a while for Melanie to respond, âNo, I donât. Why?â
Stephen turned silent.
He had only seen that person from afar a few times. Melanie would sometimes look quite like that person.
Stephen had blurted out that question. When he realized what he had just done, he suddenly thought it sounded strange and ridiculous.
The most ridiculous thing about it was that he actually thought Melanie and that person knew each other.
Although, it was strange that the personâs last name was also Smith.
Melanie looked at Stephen questioningly when she saw him being quiet.
She called out to him a few times, but he did not seem to hear her.
Melanie called out louder, and Stephen snapped out of it.
He shook his head bitterly. âIâm sorry, Mel. You reminded me of someone, but I must be mistaken. Itâs impossible that you two know each otherâ¦â
After he said this, he could not help asking again just to be sure about it, âHis name is Matthew Smith. You donât know him, do you?â
