Chapter 495
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 495
Georgeâs expression was sinister. When he looked at Melanie, he gave her a cold smile,
revealing his yellowish teeth. âDrop the charges against me, and Iâll give you the evidence. Itâs not the first time that little bitch has egged your stupid mother on.â
George deliberately lowered his voice to create a sense of urgency. âSo, how about it?â
Melanie looked at him calmly and silently.
It was inevitable that George was aware of Dylanâs actions.
However, there was a reason Melanie had not approached him first. She knew that George was crafty and might not tell the truth.
George was not afraid of Melanieâs gaze. He remained calm and said, âAnyway, the evidence is with me. Itâs up to you whether you agree to my terms or not.â
Melanieâs expression never changed even as they left the detention center.
Stephen asked, âWhat do you think about Georgeâs proposal?â
âI wonât take it,â Melanie said firmly.
George was the one behind her grandfatherâs death. Melanie would not let George off just to get evidence against Viola⦠especially since Georgeâs words were not credible to begin with.
Stephen nodded and cast the thought from his mind. He then took Melanie to the parking lot and chatted with her intermittently. âMr. Henry is back. I heard that the Scotts are celebrating his birthday next week.â
He asked Melanie, âWill you be there?â
Everyone in upper society more or less knew each other. Moreover, Stephenâs family got along with the Scotts to begin with, and they never lost touch with each other.
That was why Stephen knew that Henry Scott had always favored Melanie.
Melanie said, âHe told me about it, so Iâll be there.â
âI also heard that Xander offered you a learning opportunity, but you refused?â Stephen asked again.
Melanie glanced back at the door of the detention center. âThere are some things I have to take care of before I can rest easy.â
âIf itâs Dylan and George, I can help you keep an eye on them.â Stephen pondered for a moment and tried to convince Melanie, âSince you want to continue in this line of work, you canât waste any time. Mel, you have to put yourself first.â
It was not that Melanie did not understand what Stephen was saying. She just could not get over her grandfatherâs death so easily, so she had to take care of Dylan and Viola first. Melanie got out of the car near a business district and went to find Henryâs birthday present. Henry had invited her to his birthday bash, so she could not go emptyâhanded.
She had just paid for the gift at the counter when a text message flashed on her screen.
It was from Yana. [Melanie, Viola and Mr. Scott are arguing. It looks serious. Many people are saying that itâs because of you.]
Melanie frowned and replied, [What does it have to do with me?]
[Didnât you come to the company to deliver a document to Mr. Scott that day? The company has been buzzing with rumors these past few days, saying that you and Mr. Scott have gotten back together. Violaâs been green in the gills ever since.]
[It wasnât so bad at first. She would just glare at Mr. Scott wistfully during the meetings. I donât know why, but they started arguing in the office today.]
Yana quickly spammed a few messages. Melanie looked at the gossip and read the curiosity between the messages. After a moment, she put her phone away.
She did not care why Viola and Eugene were quarreling.
At the same timeâ¦
