Chapter 475
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 475
She received a reply almost immediately after she sent the message. Violaâs gaze took on a sharp edge. Mason, who was watching her, seemed somewhat concerned. âAre you okay?â
Viola came back to her senses. Biting her lip, she replied weakly, âIâm fine.â
Mason raised his hand to touch her forehead. âItâs all my fault. I shouldnât have let you come here.â
A fragile smile appeared on Violaâs face. She did not brush Masonâs hand away from her forehead. Innocent tears filled her pure and clear eyes, yet she pretended to be strong.
Masonâs brows furrowed as he felt his heart softening.
After Melanie and Eugene parted ways, she took a taxi straight to the villa. She initially planned to go back to the North district, but the jewelry set that Henry gave her was too precious. She was worried that something might happen if she left it there, so she brought it with her to the villa.
Xander and the others had not returned yet. Only Yvonne was there.
Yvonne looked spirited as she greeted Melanie with enthusiasm. Seeing the bag in Melanieâs hand, she exclaimed, âWhat did
buy?â
âItâs not something I bought. Itâs a gift from someone.â
âWell, that person is quite generous. My dad bought a jewelry set from this brand for my mom before. Itâs not cheap.â
Having learned the price of the set from Eugene, Melanie nodded and went back to her room. She bumped into Xander and the others who had just returned just as she was coming back down. After greeting them, she went into the study.
She needed to deal with some documents that were piled up from yesterday.
However, as soon as she entered the study, she received a call from Henry. âMel, did Eugene escort you home?â Henry asked with concern.
âIâm home,â Melanie paused. âIs there something you need, Mr. Henry?â
Henry sighed. âThat fool. I know youâve been wronged. Donât worry, Iâll teach him a lesson.â
Melanie did not respond to him. Henry was blaming and criticizing Eugene because he wanted to protect her.
âMel, youâre the only granddaughterâinâlaw in my heart. You and Eugene-.â
Melanie cut him off calmly before he could finish. âMr. Henry, if you want to see me, I can come to visit you anytime. But Eugene already has a girlfriend, so letâs not talk about those things anymore.â
The man snorted. âGirlfriend? I donât think much of that little girl!â
âSheâs a good person, and Eugene really likes her,â Melanie replied. This was a fact evident in Eugeneâs indulgence toward her.
Henry went on a slight rant again when he heard that, but Melanie did not want to talk about
them any longer. Instead, she redirected the conversation.
After chatting with the old man briefly, she hung up. Melanie then immersed herself in work. Their collaboration with Carla would be advancing next week, and she needed to prepare a proposal in advance.
As for Henry, the warmth disappeared from his face the moment the call ended. He handed the phone to the caregiver beside him and said indifferently, âCall Eugene. Tell him Iâm heading to LeapCo.â
When Henry was younger, he was decisive and resolute. Only when he grew older did he gradually delegate authority and stop meddling in affairs.
Melanie had no idea that Henry was about to cause trouble for Eugene after ending the call.
