Chapter 797: 797: She is Pregnant
He Clings to Me Every Night
After thinking for a while, Auntie Jane said, âMaâam hasnât shown any signs of unhappiness, nor has she acted unusually. Recently, sheâs been spending a lot of time with that news anchor. I heard theyâre planning to get married.â
âYou can get back to work.â After ending the conversation, Daniel Marshall headed upstairs.
Olivia Jenkins was putting on her makeup when, suddenly, she remembered her menstrual cycle.
The reminder had sounded off yesterday. The âmonthly visitorâ should have also reported by now.
Yesterday, she didnât get her period. It had been late by a day or two before, so she wasnât very worried.
But thinking carefully about the changes in her own body, Oliviaâs eyes contracted, and a frown creased her forehead.
Previously, there had been a cold war and temporary separation between her and Daniel. Since then, she had stopped taking contraceptive pills, but she had been careful to observe her danger period.
They had only taken safety measures during the hazard period thereafter and had been safe and sound for several months. She had not gotten pregnant.
Could she be so unlucky as to be pregnant at this time?
Thinking about it, Olivia felt a headache coming on. She seemed to sink into gray despair, her whole being consumed by melancholy.
âHoney, what are you thinking about?â
Danielâs deep voice drew Oliviaâs thoughts back to the present. She looked at him without giving any indication of what was on her mind. âHoney, what do you think of my makeup?â
Danielâs lips curved into a faint, indulgent smile. âMy wife is beautiful even without makeup!â
Olivia looked in the mirror, quickly outlined her eyes, made some final adjustments, then put away her makeup.
She turned to Daniel with a serious expression. âAbigail Anderson is pregnant. Lately, sheâs been pressing me to also have a baby to keep her company. Honey, what do you think?â@@novelbin@@
Danielâs gaze was inscrutable as he stared at Olivia. Without hesitation, he responded, âDo you want a baby?â
At his words, a chill rushed through Olivia. It was as if a wave of disappointment had suddenly swept over her and drowned her.
Even if she wanted a baby, had Daniel ever considered having a child?
If it was an unexpected pregnancy, Daniel wouldnât want it, would he?
In the face of an unexpected baby, would he think she was being manipulative?
Daniel always claimed that he and Grace Ziegler had no romantic relationship and only saw her as a sister. He repeatedly insisted that there was no possibility between them, but she just couldnât understand Daniel.
Danielâs actions were totally out of sync with his words.
Even her last glimmer of hope had been shattered into pieces.
Even if she were actually pregnant, she shouldnât have any lingering feelings or hold out any hope for Daniel.
Olivia stared fixedly at Daniel with her bright almond eyes. Her beautiful face remained completely unchanged. Even so, she managed to force a faint smile to hide her turbulent emotions.
âI told Abigail that Iâm too busy this year, that I donât have time to rest. However, she suggested that we could become relatives (through marriage). I didnât want her to worry or overthink things, so I agreed. You wonât blame me for making this decision on my own, will you?â
âYouâre troubled, youâre not happy. Is it because of this?â
Her almond eyes fluttered slightly, and Olivia let out a perfunctory nod. âOtherwise, what do you think is making me unhappy?â
Daniel gently wrapped his arms around Olivia. He spoke softly, âHoney, I want you to be honest with me. No matter what itâs about, I want to be there for you. Weâll have a baby next year and everything will get better. Weâll be very happy. Next year, letâs both set aside some time for our own family, okay?â
A hint of coldness flashed through Oliviaâs eyes. âThis year is almost over, anyway. We can talk about it next year. Plans always fall behind changes.â
