Chapter 795: 795: The Wife is Not at Home
He Clings to Me Every Night
Jay Bennett also came to the night market.
By chance, she saw Benjamin Johnson.
Jay wanted to call out to Benjamin, but he was walking too fast.
The words that were on the verge of leaving her lips came to an abrupt halt. Jay could only jog to catch up with Benjamin.
Suddenly, Benjamin slowed his pace. A sweet smile spread across Jayâs face, and her footsteps slowed as well.
Just when she was about to make her presence known under the guise of a fortuitous encounter, Jay saw Olivia Jenkins.
So, thatâs why Benjamin was in such a hurry and carrying so many items â they were all for Olivia to eat.
They were even sitting together, engrossed in conversation.
Seeing the tenderness in Benjaminâs eyes when he looked at Olivia, the care he had for her, Jay couldnât help but feel a pang of jealousy. Her eyes began to redden, tears welling up; she wanted to cry.
Jay watched for a while, but in the end, she didnât have the courage to approach them.
With a heavy heart, Jay turned around and left.
The smile on her face froze, replaced by an expression of deep sadness.

After eating a roasted sweet potato, Olivia felt a bit better, âBenjamin, I canât thank you enough!â
Benjamin laughed self-deprecatingly, âYouâre being overly polite, it makes me feel awkward. The pear soup is warm; you should have some.â@@novelbin@@
Olivia lowered her eyes, opened the lid, and drank some pear soup.
In a moment when she felt all was lost, she was comforted by the aroma of a roasted sweet potato and the heartwarming pear soup. But, it wasnât enough to warm her cold heart.
Benjaminâs gaze was still intensely fixed on Olivia, making thoughtful observations of her. âI get the feeling that youâre troubled. Thatâs just my intuition. Did you have a fight with Daniel?â
Olivia shook her head, âNo, we didnât argue!â But the situation was worse than having a fight.
âWhy didnât he accompany you? Does he know youâre not feeling well?â
Olivia looked up, a faint smile on her lips, she teased, âDo I really look weak? Have I lost my former strength?â
Benjamin let out a sigh, âI feel like youâve changed. Youâve matured. Perhaps the deceit in life has sanded down your rough edges. I no longer see your youthful energy; instead, you appear more composed. Youâve hidden your true self.â
âIsnât that what an adult should be like? My younger self was so impulsive. Now I consider the consequences before doing anything, rather than acting recklessly like before.â
âBut are you happy now?â
Feeling like she was seen through, Olivia fell silent, making eye contact with Benjamin.
With a light touch of his lips, Benjamin whispered, âIf you need help, you can always reach out to me. If you need someone to talk to, you can come to me as well. The Marshall Family is indeed prestigious, but seeing how cutthroat they are, I know your life is not easy.â
Olivia took a sip of the pear soup, still silent.
There was nothing more to say; it was what it was.
Half a year had passed, Jenkins Group had stabilized and returned to its proper trajectory. Seraphina and her group were in prison, and her marriage with Daniel no longer held much significance.
Olivia didnât want to talk about it, and Benjamin didnât pry any further. Still, he felt that Olivia was troubled; perhaps she wasnât doing very well.
â¦
At around ten oâclock at night, Daniel returned home, but he didnât see Olivia.
âAuntie Jane, where is madam?â
Auntie Jane told the truth: âSir, after you left, madam also went out. She didnât have dinner. I donât know where she went to, she didnât say.â
âYou may go.â
Sirâs face darkened, becoming somewhat frightening, so Auntie Jane hurriedly left.
Without hesitation, Daniel immediately called Olivia.
The call went through, but no one answered.
