Chapter 684: 684: What's in the Tea?
He Clings to Me Every Night
âDonât think that just because you have the advantage of numbers, Iâm scared of you!â Matthew Marshall balled his hands into fists and stood up, seemingly ready to confront Olivia Jenkins.
Immediately, Oliviaâs nearest bodyguard grabbed the collar of Matthewâs shirt, his eyes filled with fierceness as he glared at Matthew.
Seeing this, Bella Thompson quickly shouted, âMatthew, calm down!â
Suddenly, Olivia tilted her head slightly and looked at Matthew with great interest.
A meaningful smile spread across the beautiful face of Olivia. She said in her cold voice, laced with amusement, âHmm⦠so a few shots from me, and your legâs all better. Sitting and standing freely, I bet you can even walk freely. Youâre so eager to fight me, it must mean youâre fully recovered, right?â
Instantly, Bella replied defensively, âWe have already been to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor said Matthew is recovering well. Matthewâs impulsiveness just now was a natural reaction of worrying about me. He still needs to continue his rehabilitation. Youâre already making us mother and son suffer. Not knowing where to stop will bring you bad karma.â
Oliviaâs sharp gaze seemed to bore through Bella and she said, â You must have forgotten that I used to be a doctor. I understand medical matters far better than you do. To tell the truth, Iâm quite impressed by your mother-son acting.â
Despite the turmoil in her mind, Bella maintained her composure. While maintaining eye contact with Olivia, she said, âBelieve what you want, but no one wishes for my sonâs recovery more than I do. I hope he suffers less.â
âWhether you are human or a ghost, I can tell at just one glance. You may continue your act!â
Matthew slowly shifted his foot and sat back down in the wheelchair, âMom, donât bother with a mad dog!â
Olivia sat down and continued eating sunflower seeds, âEveryone can leave now. They donât deign to act anymore. Everyone, keep an eye on the Beverly Hills cleaning and transformation plan. My grandpa is coming back in a few days to recuperate. We need to make sure his stay is comfortable and that he doesnât come across any dirty things that might upset him.â
âYes!â
Once the dozens of bodyguards scattered, Bella felt the oppressive atmosphere dissipate and felt less panic in her heart.
However, a bodyguard still stood on either side of Olivia. It would be impossible for anyone to lay a hand on her.
Bella calmly threw a resentful glance at Olivia and then wheeled her son upstairs.
Shortly, Matthew signaled to his mother.
Bella heeded her sonâs advice and stopped.
Matthew confronted Olivia in a menacing tone, âWas there something wrong with the tea you gave me earlier?â
Oliviaâs expression clearly showed her disdain and without even bothering to glance at Matthew, she replied while cracking sunflower seeds, âThe tea I gave you is fine. The problem is with your cup. Although you looked so tired, itâs just a little extra rest.â
âYou are just pure evil!â
âCompared to you guys, this is just a minor thing. You are the ones who have no boundaries and are ruthless. Matthew, I suggest you ask your mom and your uncle about your grandpaâs car accident. Or perhapsâ¦you already know!â
Bellaâs face turned cold and her gaze darkened. She rebuked Olivia, âYou vile woman, spreading lies everywhere. Youâre obviously trying to frame us. You want to have full power over the Marshall family by getting rid of us. Youâre despicable!â
Olivia lifted her eyes and looked at Bella with contempt, laughing, âYouâre so agitated. I must have hit a nerve!â
Matthew huffed angrily, âPsycho!â
