Chapter 662: 662: Don't Play Tricks
He Clings to Me Every Night
âHoney, Iâm fine, as long as youâre not getting wet in the rain.â
Daniel Marshallâs deep voice was as charming and entrancing as a celloâs melody, tantalizingly pleasant, stirring an impulse to hear him speak again.
Suddenly, Olivia Jenkins felt a surge of rationality, steadying her cold emotional walls.
She said nothing more and quickened her pace.
Suddenly, a gusty wind blew, turning the umbrella in Danielâs hand inside out. Instinctively, Daniel raised his long coat above his head to shield Olivia. He then faced the wind and struggled to right the umbrella.
Fortunately, the umbrella quickly regained its shape, and Daniel managed to use it to cover most of Oliviaâs body.
Oliviaâs expression remained cold, but inside, her heart was quivering slightly. She glanced at Daniel.
Under the dim streetlight, Olivia saw that Danielâs face was wet and his hair was slightly damp.
Even though a strange warmth welled up within her, Olivia pretended to be nonchalant and continued to stride forward unhurriedly.
Daniel didnât speak either. He continued to hold Olivia tightly, protecting her from the rain, ensuring she didnât catch a chill.
â¦
Once they reached the car, Olivia unlocked it and immediately climbed in, completely ignoring Daniel.
Daniel remained standing by the car, his eyes trained unblinkingly on Oliviaâs vehicle.
In the car, Olivia had already buckled her seat belt, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldnât start the car.
In a moment of frustration, Olivia cursed under her breath, thumping the steering wheel in irritation.
This was so infuriating! Of all times, why did the car have to break down now!
The strong wind was howling, the rain was pouring, the night was deep and quiet â how was she supposed to get home?
So annoying!
Her mood was spoiled, and her temper flared!
Daniel stood by the car for a while. Seeing that Olivia didnât drive away, he knocked on the car window, âHoney, whatâs wrong?â
Olivia faintly heard Danielâs voice, but she didnât want to acknowledge him.
Olivia pulled an umbrella from the glove box, opened the car door, took the umbrella, and walked over to lift the car hood.
Immediately, Daniel came over to see, âHoney, did your car break down?â
Using her phone as a flashlight, Olivia looked under the carâs hood, yet she still couldnât identify what was stopping the car from starting.
Previously, after her car rear-ended Danielâs Porsche, it had been sent off for repairs.
It had been running fine for a while, yet tonight, of all nights, it was so unlucky that it wouldnât start.
In utmost irritation, Olivia wore a sullen expression and didnât bother with Daniel.
Still, Daniel gently said, âHoney, why donât you drive my car? Tomorrow, Iâll have yours checked. Or, I can buy you a new one.â
Suddenly, Olivia let the carâs hood drop, creating a loud noise.
She didnât say anything other than giving Daniel a piercing look.
Once back in the car, Olivia tried starting it again, but it still wouldnât start.
Daniel knocked on the car window again, âHoney, drive my car. Itâs late now, go home and get some rest.â
Given it was already late, it was troublesome to call for a car, and besides, her house was quite a distance from here. It would be dangerous for a woman to travel alone at night⦠After some thought, Olivia got out of the car.
âIâm borrowing your car. Donât follow me or try any tricks,â she warned.
Daniel nodded earnestly. Then, he asked Simon Howard to get down from the car and gave it to Olivia.
With a warning filled glare at Daniel, Olivia sat in Danielâs Rolls-Royce and drove away, leaving both Daniel and Simon Howard behind without a second thought.
Indignantly, Simon Howard said, âCouldnât she have dropped us off downtown? Itâs freezing, windy and rainy, and she just leaves us here, heartless! You just got discharged from the hospital, and she doesnât care. Unfeeling!â
