Chapter 618: 618: Heart of Stone
He Clings to Me Every Night
Simon Howard was still worried, âAre you sure you donât want to call his wife? At the very least, she should know that heâs out in the rain!â
Adam Howard found it absurd yet somewhat funny, âDo you think his wife would answer our call? However, you do have a point, his wife should know that heâs standing in the rain. Simon, I know what Iâm doing. You just keep an eye on Daniel Marshall. Donât let those infuriating people get close to him.â
âI understand, it wonât happen a second time,â Simon said, inexplicably feeling depressed inside.
âIf itâs something you canât handle, text me or call me, and Iâll take care of it.â
âMm.â
Right after hanging up on Simon, Adam called Martin Wallace.
After hearing what happened, Martin couldnât help but roar with laughter.
Adam said earnestly, âStop laughing, hurry up and make that call. His wife will only answer calls from her lawyer.â
Martin joked, âIf Daniel doesnât treat us to ten abalones in the future, heâs definitely treating us unfairly.â
âIf his wife changes her mind, it wonât just be ten abalones. I bet heâd even give you a Ferrari.â
âJust for the chance at a Ferrari, Iâll make the call.â
âIf there is any good news, send me a message.â
âUnderstood, united, we stand. United, we are invincible!â
âDonât get too excited too soon. Olivia Jenkins is too clever and determined, it wonât be easy.â
âEven if I hit a wall, Iâll give it a try.â
âGood luck!â
â¦
The cell phone screen showed an incoming call from Martin. Olivia turned off her music and answered the call.
âLawyer Wallace, itâs late, are there any updates?â She asked.
Speaking tactfully, with an apologetic tone of voice, Martin said, âDaniel is incredibly stubborn. Even my eloquence couldnât persuade him. He was so furious that he blocked me and even threatened to beat me up.â
With a faintly raised eyebrow, Olivia probed, âAre you trying to say you want to drop this case?â
âNo, Iâm not a coward! But Iâve heard that Daniel is standing outside your apartment building. Itâs pouring rain in Serene City right now, heâs probably drenched!â
Olivia narrowed her eyes slightly, her voice filled with interest, âAre you feeling sorry for him? Do you feel like youâve done something wrong?â
Martin frowned slightly, his tone turning serious, âI donât feel anything. But arenât you going to check on him? Youâre determined to separate from him. He must be completely heartbroken. His spirit might be a bit erratic from the shock.â
Without thinking, Olivia blurted out, âThen you come and chase him away. Iâm going to bed.â
Unable to hold it in any longer, Martin burst into laughter.
There was a sharp light in Oliviaâs eyes, âGood night, Lawyer Wallace.â
âGood night!â
Suddenly, Olivia hung up the call.
Olivia looked out the window. It was indeed raining, and it was coming down hard.
Without hesitation, Olivia went to bed, not even checking the balcony to see if Daniel was standing outside in the rain.
Even if there was an indescribable emotion in her heart, Oliviaâs rationality had clearly made the decision for her. There was no room for turning back, she was firm on separation.
It didnât matter if itâs Jay Bennett or the secretary, she was sure there would be countless more âsistersâ in the future. Since Daniel loved ambiguity so much, she would give him his freedom to play however he wanted.
She would not worry about this bit of hardship heâs enduring.
â¦
Simon wondered how long these two planned to go on like this, sitting in the car, sighing countless times.
Simon couldnât sleep. Being unable to help, he could only pray that the downpour wouldnât get any heavier.
Danielâs clothes were already soaked.
If he continued to stand in the pouring rain like this, he would definitely get soaked to the skin and invaded by the cold.
When Simon looked up, he realized there was no more hope. The lights in Oliviaâs apartment were already off.
Olivia was really determined to break things off!
