Chapter 9

Jesus does not condemn anyone

Intimate Jesus

Day nine

[Main Scripture: John 8:10-11]

Jesus stood up straight and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?" She replied, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "I do not condemn you either. Go, and from now on do not sin any more."]]

John 8:10‭-‬11 NET

The story of the woman that was caught in adultery is a story of all of us. The woman was actually guilty. She had been caught and that's the reason she had been taken to Jesus. We are all actually guilty. But Jesus chose not to condemn us and to forgive us of our sins.

The bible says," I do not condemn you." Jesus never condemns anyone. That's just because Jesus came for us. He came to save us from all our sins and shame.Imagine the amount of pain and shame and disgrace this woman must have felt. Remember, she was not innocent. Whatever it is she had been accused of was true. She was guilty and yet Jesus did not condemn her.

This tells us something about the nature of Jesus. He doesn't condemn. He doesn't make us feel guilty. Notice what else Jesus said: "Go, and from now on do not sin anymore."

Much as Jesus doesn't condemn, He doesn't expect us to go back to the same things that shame us. He doesn't expect us to live our lives in sin. Jesus does not condemn us so that we can be free.

So if the son sets you free, you will be really free.

John 8:36 NET

Once Jesus sets us free, we are free indeed. There's no more reason to go back to sin. There's no reason to live life without hope. We have been set free. Here's a question to ask ourselves. Why have we been set free?

Jesus answered them, "I tell you the solemn truth, everyone who practices sin is a slave of sin.

John 8:34 NET

Because sin makes us slaves. And when a person is enslaved to something, that thing becomes the person's master.Everyone that has been set free by Jesus is totally free. Now you can truly live a righteous life. Jesus enables us to live consecrated lives.

Confess this with me: I am no longer a slave of sin. I am free. I am no longer guilty. Jesus took my guilt. I no longer have shame. Jesus took my shame. I am not condemned. Jesus was condemned on my behalf. I cannot sin. I will not sin as Christ enables me. I am totally free!

Prayer: Father, we thank you. We glorify your name and we magnify your name. We acknowledge your presence today. You are our Father. You are our king. You are our master. Thank you for sending Jesus to die for us. Thank you for not condemning us. We bless your name O Lord. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
