Guardians?!

I See You (Jack Frost x Reader)

(Y/N)'s P.O.V

"Ow!" I yelp in pain as we roll around the tight space in the sack, feeling a bit dizzy from being tossed in the portal.

"Woah!"

Jack and I groan as we land, my back hitting the floor roughly as my eyes slowly adjust to the darkness of the sack.

"That..." I trail off as I look up, Jack's eyes wide as our noses brushed together. "... Hurt."

He was slightly above me, his hands on both sides of my head to hold himself up from totally crushing me with his body weight. I nervously clear my throat as he remains silent, his expression sheepish and his eyes wide.

"Jack?"

"They're here," a familiar man's voice eagerly says, and light was flooded in the dark bag as it was lifted off us.

Jack looks up while I lean my head back on the floor to look at the elves greeting us. They yelp and rush away, making Jack grunt in confusion as I shove him away lightly, noticing the three as he pulls the bag off our heads.

"Quiet!" North shushes as Tooth gently calms her fairies. "Hey! There they are!" He grins, looking between us. "Jack Frost and (Y/N) (L/N)!"

Sandy grins as Tooth smiles widely, North watching us with a cheerful face.

"... Wow," Jack mumbles with a groan, shaking his head. "You got to be kidding me."

"What'd you do?" I whisper accusingly, making him snicker for a second.

"Nothing!" he defends with an innocent grin, shaking his head. "I'm serious!"

"Mhm," I sigh, yelping as the back of my shirt was grabbed and I was lifted to my feet.

"Hey, hey!" Jack gasps as he was also grabbed by the Yetis. "Put-- put us down." He sternly mumbles, frowning.

The Yeti sets me down, patting my head before dusting off my shoulder carefully.

"Um... thank you," I thank, making him grin and clap before backing away.

Jack shrugs the Yetis helping him off, making me laugh as he tries to dust Jack's jacket off, only for him to shove him away.

"I hope the Yetis treated you well." North grins, resting his hands on his hips.

"Oh, sure," I reply in a mild sarcastic tone, stretching and cracking my sore back. "Very well."

"We love being shoved in a sack and tossed through a magic portal," Jack agrees in an irritated tone, gracefully kicking his staff to rest on his shoulder as he looks around.

"Yup. It was great." I agree with sarcasm lacing my tone, a sigh leaving me as I rub my neck.

"Oh! Good. That was my idea," North laughs with a cheerful smile, making me grin and shake my head as I look around. "You two know Bunny, obviously."

North gestures to Bunny, who was leaning against the wall admiring his boomerang.

"Obviously," Jack replies with a snort, Bunny not looking up.

"Yep. Hey, Bunny," I greet with a wave, making him look up with a head nod.

"(Y/N)," he greets back, making Jack scoff.

"Oh, sure. You acknowledge her but not to me," he dramatically grumbles, tossing his arm around me as he whines.

Bunny rolls his eyes, ignoring him as he messes with his boomerang.

"And the Tooth Fairy," North introduces, making me gasp as Tooth suddenly appears in front of me.

"Hi, Cupid!" Tooth greets in an excited tone, startling me a bit. "I've heard so much about you, and your wings!" She smiles widely, flying around me as Jack moves his arm.

"Her wings?" Jack slowly repeats, his eyebrow raised in amusement.

"Are they really as white and fluffy as clouds?" Tooth eagerly questions as I look back at her. "Oh? Where are they?"

"Uh..." I trail off, blinking rapidly before I make them appear.

She squeals in delight, admiring them as I present them to her, my wings stretching out a bit and fluttering slowly.

"Wow! May I?" Tooth eagerly questions, reaching her hand towards them and pausing as she waits for my permission.

"Oh, um... I guess?" I reply slowly with furrowed brows, nodding.

I look at Jack in confusion as he grins in amusement. Tooth places her hand on my wing, gasping and cooing as her fairies do the same.

"They really are soft as clouds!" She gushes, her fairies chittering in agreement.

I look towards the others, Sandy watching Tooth with slight confusion as North simply smiles. Bunny was watching as well, a faint amused grin on his face.

One of her fairies rests on my shoulder, squeaking softly and smiling at me as she hides in my hair.

"So you can make them appear and disappear? That's gotta be handy!" Tooth quickly says, flying around before looking at Jack with a grin. "And I've heard a lot about you, too! And your teeth!"

I snicker, slapping a hand over my mouth as Jack's smile falls as he double-takes.

"My... My what?" Jack stammers.

"Open up!" Tooth pries his mouth open as he mumbles in protest, making me snicker again as I watch.

"Are they really as white as they say? Yes!" She gasps, grinning. "They really do sparkle like freshly fallen snow!"

Some fairies chitter excitedly around Jack, the fairy resting on my shoulder fluttering towards him. Some others fly to me, petting my wings as others nuzzle into them with happy sighs.

"Girls! Pull yourselves together," Tooth calls sternly, making them nod as they fly back to her. "Let's not disgrace the uniforms."

"And Sandman," North finishes, and Jack and I notice a sleeping Sandman.

He must be tired from working all night.

"Sandy?" North questions before tapping his shoulder. "Sandy? Wake up!"

Sandy jolts awake, looking at us with a small smile and a wave as he sleepily yawns.

"Hey," Jack simply calls to everyone, joining my side. "Anyone wanna tell us why we're here?"

"Right, yes," I agree, nodding as I stretch my wings out. "Please tell us."

Sandy nods, walking forward with a grin before creating images above his head. A moon, a snowflake, and a heart, a silhouette of a man, and then...

He's lost me.

"Uh," Jack nervously laughs, kneeling down to his height. "That's not really helping, but thanks, little man."

"He didn't do anything did he?" I question, making Bunny laugh bitterly and shake his head.

"I must've done somethin' really bad," Jack frosts over a nearby elf as he casually walks around. "To get you four together. But, uh, you really didn't need to bring (Y/N) here, too. Whatever I did she didn't have anything to do with it."

"Well..." I trail off, remembering the sledding incident with Jamie. "Am I on the naughty list?"

"Hah!" North bellows a laugh, grabbing his stomach as the others laugh. "You? On naughty list? Never."

North turns his attention to jack, "Him, however... he holds the record. But it no matter, we overlook." North waves off, making me tilt my head in confusion. "Now we are wiping clean the slate."

He brushes off his tattoo on his arm with the naughty list, making Jack look back.

"How come?" He questions with a raised brow and a smirk.

"Ah, good question," Bunny replies with a frown, rolling his eyes.

"Yeah... I mean, Jack is great guy, but he gets into a lot of trouble," I agree with a snicker, folding my arms.

"Oh? I'm a great guy?" Jack teases with a wide grin, making me sigh with amusement as I shush him.

"I tell you how come!" North bellows, making me jump. "Because now... You both are Guardians!"

Yetis appear behind North holding up torches as his elves begin to play celebratory music.

My mouth drops as I look at Jack in confusion, his face showing resentment and just as much confusion.

"What?!" I question, the music drowning out my words as North dramatically moves to the music.

Banners with the symbol G were lowered, and little fairies try to put a necklace on my neck.

"Oh, um... No thank you," I decline, backing up next to Jack as he shakes his head and jolts away from the fairies, running into me.

"Sorry," he yells before gasping as a Yeti pats his back. "What are you doing?"

"This is the best part!" North yells over the music with a laugh as his elf begins to play drums, North marching to the beat.

Jack wraps an arm around my shoulder, pulling me away with narrowed eyes as the Yetis spin their fire near us. I yelp as I nearly trip back on an elf, thankful that Jack had his arm around me to stable me as my wings frantically flapped.

Yetis gently pat my wings in hopes of calming them, making Jack shoo them away with an annoyed grunt.

I tap his arm and point down at an angry looking elf. Jack watches as the elf points to his bare feet, then to a pair of extravagant blue elf shoes.

"Nope, not happening," Jack glares, becoming angrier by the second.

"I don't have time to be a Guardian!" I shake my head, watching as a Yeti presents a large book to North.

Jack's grip on my shoulder and his staff becomes tighter as he glares around the room. Fairies coo over us, Sandman raising his cup our way as Bunny rolls his eyes, however smiling and nodding at me.

Jack raises his staff, pulling me close as he roughly slams it on the ground, making a large gust of wind appear. It blows out the Yetis torches, and startles the elves into stopping the music. North slowly looks up from his book between us as Jack lets me go.

"What makes you think I want to be a Guardian? Or her for that matter?" Jack demands, looking around.

North suddenly bellows an uproarious laugh, closing the book before halting his laughter.

"Of course you do." He states bluntly, his expression brightening once more. "Music!"

The elves begin to play again, making me sigh and Jack yell, "no music!"

The elf throws his trumpet angrily, shoving his friend as he storms off.

"Um... Listen, this is... Very nice of you," I awkwardly smile, my wings disappearing. "But, um..."

"You don't want me," Jack interrupts, hopping onto a desk. "You're all hard work and deadlines. And I'm snowball and fun times. I'm not a Guardian."

"Yeah. That's exactly what I said," Bunny scoffs, nodding in agreement.

"I'm not one either," I comment, making them pause.

"What?" Bunny questions, his grin dropping.

"I mean, I don't... I just bring love to people. I don't really do anything else," I reply, sitting on the desk next to Jack with a sigh. "I'm not a Guardian."

"Guys, I don't think you understand what it is we do," Tooth replies, fluttering in between us before flying up to the Globe. "Each of those lights is a child."

Golden lights twinkle on the large Globe, a handful flickering out every so often while some appear.

"A child who believes," North continues, standing besides us. "And good or bad, naughty or nice, we protect them."

I gasp and snicker as Tooth begins to admire Jack's teeth again.

"Tooth! Fingers out of mouth." North scolds, making her quickly pull away.

"Sorry!" She giggles, "they're so white!"

"Okay," North sighs, shaking his head as Jack begins to pace around. "No more wishy-washy. Pitch is out there doing who knows what!"

"Wait, wait," I stammer, pushing myself off the desk. "Pitch Black? What are you talking about? I thought you guys got rid of him ages ago."

"You mean the Boogeyman?" Jack laughs with disbelief, his laughter dying when he sees my serious expression.

"Yes!" North firmly replies, " and when Pitch threatens us, he threatens them as well!"

"All the more reason to pick someone more qualified," Jack snaps back, sighing and shaking his head as he turns away from them.

"Jack, you're more than qualified," I whisper to him as I join him, looking back at the others.

"Pick? You think we pick?" North questions, shaking his head. "No! You both were chosen! Like we were all chosen." He pauses, gesturing to the moon outside, the moon a bit faded and the sky a bright blue. "By Man in Moon."

"What?" Jack whispers and turns around, my attention also grabbed.

"Last night, guys," Tooth replies softly, nodding with encouragement. "He chose you two, together."

"Well, (Y/N) he did. Jack, maybe," Bunny mumbles to himself, making Tooth lightly shove his arm.

"Man in Moon..." I breathe out, sighing. "He hasn't talked to me since that night I found you. But... Why? Why now?"

"You see... You two cannot say no. It is destiny," North says in a calm tone as Jack and I look up at Manny.

"But why wouldn't he tell us this himself?" Jack demands before groaning as he rubs his face. "After three hundred years this is his only answer? For me and (Y/N) to spend eternity like you guys, cooped up in some hideout thinking of new ways to bribe kids?!"

I frown as I shake my head, my hand reaching for him. "Jack, calm down--"

"No, no," Jack bitterly laughs, shaking his head. "That's not for us!" He shouts at the moon, wincing as I lightly hit his arm. I gesture to the Guardians with a stern look, making him sigh and look at them. "No offense."

"How-- how is that not offensive?" Bunny stammers out, shaking his head as he suddenly scoffs. "You know what I think? I think we just dodged a bullet."

Jack sighs as he turns away, making me frown as I place my hand on his shoulder. He sets his opposite hand on mine, sighing again as he squeezes it.

"I mean, (Y/N), I hope you reconsider." Bunny continues, making me look back. "I-- I don't get why you won't join, you would make for a good Guardian. But him?" He laughs, scratching behind his ear. "What does that clown know about bringing joy to children anyway?"

"Well.. Jack makes snow days," I reply, turning back to them as Bunny stops scratching his ear. "Kids go crazy when he makes them."

Jack smiles at me before his grin fades to a challenging face.

"I know it's no hard-boiled egg," Jack snickers smugly, turning to Bunny with a smirk and a glare. "But kids like what I do."

"But none of them believe in you. Do they?" Bunny demands in a low voice, making me gasp lightly as Jack begins to approach him. "You see, you're invisible, mate. It's like you don't even exist."

"Bunny! Enough," Tooth scolds in a firm voice, scowling as she flutters closer.

"He exists to me," I snap back, narrowing my eyes as I stand next to Jack.

"Well... The kangaroo's right. They don't believe in me," Jack scoffs, gesturing to Bunny as he wraps his arm around my shoulder. "At least you do," he quietly addresses to me.

"The-- The what? What did you call me? I'm not a kangaroo, mate," Bunny steps forward a few paces, making Jack move me back as he begins to approach Bunny.

"Oh, and this whole time I thought you were," Jack muses with a smirk, glaring at him. "If you're not a kangaroo, what are you?"

"I'm a bunny," Bunny's ears flatten as he glares at Jack, lowering to his height. "The Easter Bunny. People believe in me."

Jack goes rigid as he glares back at Bunny, unable to form a comeback as Sandy nervously looks up at North.

"Bunny! Just stop!" I snap, lightly pushing him away from Jack before I take Jack's trembling hand in mine. "That just... it hurts. So just stop it. People don't believe in me either, remember?"

Bunny was taken aback by this, his ears drooping a bit as his eyes dart down with a hint of shame in them. "Listen, (Y/N), mate, I only meant it as a insult to him, not you--"

"Jack, (Y/N)," North interrupts, making Bunny sigh as he hops back. "Walk with me."
