Ruined Easter

Third Person P.O.V

Jack grunts as he carries Sophie into her room, lowering her to her bed. She yawns and clings into his neck, making him snicker as he pries her arms off and climbs off the bed.

Sophie yawns loudly once more, turning before falling off the bed with a loud 'thump'.

Baby Tooth squeaks as Jack cringes, both gasping as Sophie's mom calls, "Sophie? Is that you?"

He quickly throws a blanket on the sleeping girl, tossing a stuffed lamb with it before quietly leaving and shutting the window softly.

"We should get back," Jack whispers, making Baby Tooth nod with a squeak of agreement.

"Jack!" A voice calls, making him gasp as he looks back.

"Jack, come on!" Another voice laughs, eerily similar to (Y/N)'s.

His brows furrow in confusion as he looks in the distance, Baby Tooth chittering softly in confusion at his behavior.

"Did you just hear (Y/N) calling my name?" Jack questions, making Baby Tooth shake her head in disagreement as he breathes out.

"Jack!" The little girl yells with a giggle, making him pause.

"That-- That voice... I know that voice... And I swear the other one was (Y/N)..." He shakes his head, gasping and looking the direction (Y/N)'s voice comes from.

Jack swiftly takes off flying, Baby Tooth nervously looking back with a squeak of protest as she quickly follows him.

He lands on top of a roof, looking around in confusion.

"(Y/N)!" Jack calls, listening. "You out here?"

"Jack?"

He takes off when he hears her voice followed by a little girl laughing, Baby Tooth frantically squeaking at him before she chases.

...

"Jack!" The little girl calls again as he lands in the woods, jogging and pausing when he sees an old wooden bed frame in the clearing.

Baby Tooth chitters with fear, lightly tugging on his hoodie.

"Don't worry, there's still time," Jack shrugs her off, the sun rising in the distance. "(Y/N) might be in trouble, so just hold on."

She rolls her eyes in response, fluttering after him.

Jack looks down into the dark hole past the bed frame, grunting lightly as he uses his staff to chip away at a piece of the old wood. It falls down below, echoing in the tunnel.

"Jack?" (Y/N)'s voice calls, making him gasp.

"(Y/N)? Hang on, I'm coming!" He yells as Baby Tooth looks at him with confusion and fear.

Jack leaps into the tunnel, Baby Tooth following closely.

Jack looks around while panting lightly, waving away Baby Tooth as she squeaks in his face.

"Baby Tooth, come on!" He shouts, yelping as she roughly pulls his hoodie back. "Don't you hear (Y/N)? And-And that other voice, I have to find out what that is."

His eyes widen as he looks around at the dangling cages, Tooth's fairies all chittering as he flies to them. Jack hops from cage to cage as they watch him.

"Shh! Keep it down," Jack lightly whispers when he realizes where he was. "I'm gonna get you out of here as soon as I--"

"I love you!"

He gasps and looks down at the sound of (Y/N)'s voice, noticing all the capsules of teeth.

"Jack!" The girl calls once more, urging him.

"... I can..." Jack finishes his sentence in a hushed voice, leaping down.

He grunts as he lands on the pile of capsules, frantically digging through them as he searches for his memories, along with (Y/N)'s.

Baby Tooth flies around nervously, squeaking in a pleading tone as she watches Jack with wide eyes and holds her cheeks.

"Looking for something?" Pitch's voice questions in a light tone.

Jack swiftly grabs his staff, growling as he fires his magic at Pitch. Pitch laughs as he moves, his shadow dancing along the walls as Jack pursues it.

"Don't be afraid, Jack. I'm not gonna hurt you."

"Afraid?" Jack scoffs as he flies onto a bridge, aiming his staff at Pitch. "I'm not afraid of you."

"Maybe not," Pitch shrugs lightly as he walks around. "But you are afraid of... Something."

"You think so, huh?" Jack questions with a raised brow.

"I know so!" Pitch laughs, looking back. "It's the one thing I always know. People's greatest fears. Yours... Is that no one will ever believe in you. And you'll never know why."

Jack's eyes widen as he softly gasps, yelling as Pitch laughs and throws him into darkness.

Jack exclaims and grunts as he was tossed around, landing on the ground and quickly grabbing his staff.

"And worst of all, you're afraid that you'll never know why," Pitch clicks his tongue with a laugh as Jack looks around with wide eyes, exclaiming as he runs.

Jack nearly runs into a wall, backing up as he looks around.

"Why you two were chosen to be like this. You want answers as much for her as you do yourself..."

Pitch smirks as he appears in front of Jack, his shadow dancing along the wall.

"Well, fear not. For the answers to that," he offers two capsules, Jack's face on one and (Y/N)'s on the other. "Are right here."

He holds the two capsules with a small smile, his golden eyes bright.

"Do you want them, Jack? Your memories and hers?" He questions in a musing voice. "She'll no doubt be grateful and... Maybe perhaps even fall for you?"

Jack slowly reaches for hers, flinching and retracting his hand as Pitch laughs and disappears. He gasps and quickly follows the voice, looking around as he aims his staff.

"Everything you and her wanted to know," Pitch starts, his shadow behind Jack and waving the two boxes around. "In these two little boxes."

Jack glares at the shadow as Pitch cackles, rushing away.

"Why did you two end up like this? Unseen... Unable to reach out to anyone..."

Jack looks around with fearful eyes, panting lightly as a tight feeling grows in his chest.

"You want the answers so badly for her sake," Pitch continues as he watches Jack. "You want to grab them and take (Y/N) and fly off with them. But you're afraid... Of what the Guardians and what (Y/N) will think."

Pitch's shadows dance along the walls as Jack frantically looks between them.

"You're afraid of disappointing them... And you're afraid that she... will never love you."

Jack exhales as if he were punched in the gut as Pitch laughs, basking in his reaction.

"Well, let me ease your mind about one thing. The Guardians will never accept you. Not really," Pitch continues in an condescending manner. "And (Y/N)? She will end up like Sandman by the time this is all over."

"Stop it, stop it!!" Jack screams, holding his head as his heart aches.

"I mean, after all... You and her aren't one of them. And (Y/N)'s death... Much as it pains me to say, it's unavoidable."

"You don't know what we are... And we will destroy you before she ever gets harmed!" Jack yells, aiming his staff as Pitch approaches.

"Of course I do," Pitch scoffs, rolling his eyes. "You're Jack Frost and Cupid. She brings love and you bring a mess wherever you go." He pauses with a smirk, "and... I'm afraid that she already has been harmed."

Pitch throws the teeth capsules at Jack, making him gasp as he manages to catch both.

"What did you do?" Jack demands, his voice low and dangerous as he sharply glares at Pitch.

"More to the point, Jack... What did you do?" Pitch backs into the shadows with a sinister laugh.

Jack gasps as he chases him in a rage, yelling as he swings his staff down. It glows a faint blue, missing Pitch.

He looks around with wide eyes before growling, running back and slamming into a wall.

"Baby Tooth!" He gasps, smacking the wall with wide eyes.

"Happy Easter, Jack."

Jack looks down with wide eyes, countless eggs smashed to pieces through the tunnel.

"No..."

Bunny waits in the bushes, breathing heavily as he nervously watches, hoping some of his eggs made it.

"There aren't any eggs." A boy sighs sadly, dropping his basket.

"There's nothing here..." A girl pouts with tears, looking around.

"I give up."

"He didn't come..."

"I don't understand."

Bunny stands up straight, looking at his eggs in his basket.

"Maybe he just hid them really well this year?" A girl suggests, her friend looking through the bushes.

"I checked everywhere. There's nothing."

"Kids! Oy!" Bunny calls, hopping to them. "Yes there is, there is!" He shows off his basket, presenting an egg with a nervous smile. "I mean, these aren't my best looking googies, but they'll do in a pinch!"

"I can't believe it!" The girl hops off the table, looking down.

"I know," Bunny laughs, his ears perked up.

"There's no such thing as the Easter Bunny..."

Bunny's heart sinks as his eyes widen, "what? No." Kids start leaving as he frantically looks around. "Wrong! Not true! I'm right in front of you, mate!"

A child walks through him, sending a jolt through his body as pants in fear.

"They don't see me..." He whispers with horror, his ears drooping as he sinks to the floor. "They don't see me..."

Jack watches with wide eyes as Tooth comforts Bunny, jumping as a voice calls his name.

"Jack!" North yells, making him gasp as he quickly rushes to North. "Where were you?"

(Y/N) pants lightly as North carries her, her skin pale and her wings drooped and turning a grey in some spots.

"(Y/N)!" Jack gasps, brushing her hair from her face as she forces her eyes open.

"J--Jack?" She manages out, recoiling and groaning in pain as another shock of pain goes through her.

"The Nightmares attacked the tunnels. They smashed every egg, crushed every basket. (Y/N) is getting weaker by the moment," North grits out as he angrily paces around. "Nothing made it to the surface and she is in constant pain."

(Y/N) sets her arm on North's shoulder, and he gently lowers her to her feet. She staggers lightly, making Jack reach for her as she hugs him.

"I was so worried," she softly sighs, making him hug her back with his eyes shut.

"Jack!" Tooth breathes as she flies over, her eyes flickering to his hands as he pulls away from (Y/N). She gasps with wide eyes, her feathers ruffling. "Where did you get those?"

(Y/N) looks at the capsules before backing away a step, her face showing confusion before she grunts lightly in pain.

"I-- I was... It's..." He stammers out, looking away in guilt.

"Where's Baby Tooth?" Tooth demands as she looks around, not seeing her Fairy.

(Y/N) looks at the capsules, shaking her head. "Jack... Don't tell me..."

"That's why you weren't here?" North demands, using his swords to help him stand. "You were with Pitch?!"

"No, listen, listen!" Jack sighs heavily as he stuffs the capsules into his hoodie pocket. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen!"

(Y/N) frowns with confusion as she shakes her head once more, stepping closer. "Jack, what exactly happened--"

"He needs to go." Bunny interrupts (Y/N), stomping over as he sharply glares at Jack.

"What?"

(Y/N) looks to Bunny, her eyes darting between him and Jack. "Bunny, calm down--"

"We should never have trusted you!" Jack staggers back as Bunny nearly punches him, stopping himself as he looks away in pain. "Easter is... New beginnings... New life. Easter's about hope. And now it's gone."

Bunny sighs deeply as he walks away, North looking away from Jack sadly as Tooth does the same.

(Y/N) tilts her head with a pained expression as Jack shakes his head, unshed tears in his eyes.

"Jack--" he throws North's small doll, flying off as she reaches for him. "Jack!"

She takes off flying, gasping as she staggers and falls to the ground, her wings too weak. Tooth gasps and flies over to her, placing her hand on her back as the tips of her wings start turning black.

"Oh, no..." Tooth breathes out, her eyes holding fear as (Y/N) gasps in pain.

North's eyes widen as he rushes to the two, Bunny quickly hopping over to them as well as they try to help her.

(Y/N) looks to the sky, her eyes narrowing in determination as she softly sighs and nods.
