Chapter 1000
Sweet Subterfuge
Larissa had no intention of allowing Gary and Lewis to stay at her house, or ta rather, Kevanâs house.
The house she was currently sharing with Kevan was spacious enough to accommodate both Gary and Lewis.
However, she was worried that the conflicts between Gary and Kevan might escalate if they were under the same roof.
So, she took Lewis aside and whispered, âAre you seriously planning to stay with us? What if my dad and Kevan get into a fight?â
âYou might be overthinking this.â Lewis said, gently tapping her forehead with his fingers.
He then reassured her. âDonât worry, Gary has come to terms with reality. Heâs not as hotâheaded as he used to be.â
âReally?â She still had some doubts âI swear on my life!â he declared.
After some contemplation, she finally agreed.
âOkay, then. But just so you know, weâll be staying at Kevanâs parentsâ place for the next couple of days.â
She felt tom when she thought about it.
On one hand, her biological family had traveled a long way from abroad to be with her.

laws as a complete family.
She couldnât decide whom to be with.
Lewisbriefed Gary on the current situation, Gary asked Kevan, âWill your parents mind it Lewis and I come over?â
âNot at all,â Kevan replied without hesitation.
âLetâs drop us off at your place first. Tomorrow. Lewis and I will go to your parentâs house to celebrate the big family reunion dinner together. Gary quickly made the arrangements.
âOkay,â Kevan obediently followed Garyâs directives.
Fortunately, they had already done a thorough cleaning early in the morning and rearranged the house.
So. Larissa felt more confident as she led Gary and Lewis Into the house.
âThe guest room isnât used regularly. So, itâs a bit plain.â Kevan expressed concem that the two might find it boring. âIf thereâs anything youâre not satisfied with, just let me know.â
âItâs quite nice.â
Garyâs demeanor remained casual Unexpectedly, he did not find any faults with Kevan.
Larissa was genuinely surprised but chose to keep her questions to hersell, Once Gary and Lewis had settled in Kevan respectfully inquired, âUncle Gary, are you hungry? Would you like to go out for dinner?â
He and Larissa had emptied the fridge of all its food the day before because they were planning to stay at the Rogersâ villa for several day So, they were unable to prepare a meal at home.

âLewis and I are more than capable of looking after ourselves. Later, send the address to Lewisâ phone.
Weâll catch a cab there ourselves tomorrow.â
While Gary had set aside his prejudices and accepted Kevan, he still felt a tad uncomfortable witnessing Kevan and Larissaâs displays of affection in front of him.
Consequently, he chose to tum a blind eye.
Kevan lailed to grasp the underlying message, fearing that he might have unintentionally offended Gary He quickly responded, âNo worries, we donât have to leave today. I spoke to Violet, and she said we should follow your lead.â
âNo need for that,â Gary remarked as he reclined on the couch, clearly exhausted.
He closed his eyes with a lack of energy.
âBoth Lewis and I are quite tired. Weâll grab a bite and then head to bed. You all should make your way out promptly and avoid disturbing our restâ
