The steel chain was thick. The officer took a while to cut it off.

This phone was on a call with him the entire time. He’d arranged for it to record everything.

The officers made a copy of the recording and brought it into the interrogation room for Marilyn to listen to.

Marilyn had not expected that Lewis would do such a thing. After her initial shock, she lunged toward the phone, wanting to destroy it.

The police naturally did not believe her.
