Chapter 934
Sweet Subterfuge
After a warning from Kevan, Kevanâs parents seemed a little dejected, but they didnât show it in front of Larissa.
Dinner was already prepared. This was one of the rare times when Violet cooked dinner personally.
After asking Kevan about Larissaâs preferences, Violet had prepared all her favorite dishes.
During dinner, Viclet kept piling dishes on Larissaâs plate. Her plate was almost never empty.
Larissa and Kevan went for a walk in the courtyard after dinner. Aster also wanted to join them, but Violet kept him indoors.
The Rogersâ villa was located in the suburbs, surrounded by a cluster of other villas.
There were no lall buildings or constant traffic.
One could smell fresh air in the courtyard. Looking up, there was a clear night sky with twinkling stars that were not visible in the bustling city.
âIt will be nice to live here when we get old,â Larissa commented.
Kevan curled his lips into a smile when Larissa hinted at their future together.
âYes, we will live wherever you like.â He held her hand and walked slowly with her. As long as she was with him, he didnât mind staying anywhere, even if it was as far as the ends of the earth.
âHow about you? Do you like it here?â Larissa stopped in her tracks and turned to Kevan.
Kevan nodded and said sincerely, âI do.â
Larissa felt relieved. It was good that he liked what she liked as well.
Larissa glanced toward the door. After making sure no one was around, she whispered, âI donât think I will come here tomorrow. Il Mrs. Rogers keeps feeding me like this, I might gain ten poundsâ
Fortunately, she was wearing looseâfitting clothing that hid her tummy. If she hadnât her rounded belly would have been a complete giveaway.
âOkay, we wonât come tomorrow. I need to go back to the office as well so I wonât be here.â Kevanâs eyes shone with amusement.
âBe careful. Cody might try to harm you whenever he gets the chance.â Larissa warned him.
âHe will not come at me directly.â Kevanâs expression darkened.
After being at odds with Cody for many years, he knew Cody better than anyone else. Cody would not target him because he wouldnât gain anything from doing so.
With Codyâs intelligence, he could only blackmail Kevan by holding the people he loved hostage.
Kevan had to admit, it would be effective against him.
Nonetheless, Cody hadnât succeeded in his plans despite several attempts.
Kevan tightened his grip on Larissaâs hand and spoke in a hoarse voice, âI will have my men protect you in secret. They wonât disrupt your daily activities, just treat them like they donât exist.â
Larissa looked up into Keyanâs eyes and replied earnestly, âOkay, I will take care of myself.â
âDo you regret it? Kevan asked.
âWhat do you mean? Larissa was puzzled.
âRegret choosing to be with me,â Kevan answered. Although he knew that she made this choice not because of him, she still had to bear the risk of being in danger.
I Kevan had questioned himself, wondering if he was being too selfish.
However, he also couldnât bear seeing Larissa comply with Garyâs arrangements and go on blind dates with strangers consecutively.
explode.
âIf I thought I would regret it in the future, I wouldnât have given you my word from the beginning.â
Larissa replied frankly. Her tone was genuine and sincere.
