Chapter 925
Sweet Subterfuge
Kevan wasnât particularly worried about this: his parents were definitely easier to handle than Larissa.
But before dealing with his own parents. Kevan had someone else to deal with.
At the airport, when Lewis saw Aster and Kevan getting out of the car behind Larissa, his expression immediately darkened.
âWhy are they coming with you? Larissa, weâre here in Caldor for business, not a vacation,â he asked with an unpleasant tone.
âItâs not what you think,â Larissa replied.
She felt a twinge of guilt due to Lewisâ sudden accusations.
She then pointed at Kevan.
âHe just happened to have some matters to attend to in Caldor. And since thereâs no one at home to take care of Aster, he brought him along. After we land in Caldor, they will go their separate ways. They wonât interfere with my work,â she assured Lewis.
Lewisâs mood didnât improve with her explanation, However, he couldnât say anything more.
There was an ongoing pandemic in Caldor.
So, flights from Westonia to Caldor had seen a significant drop in passengers lately.
Even so, it was surprising that they were the only passengers in the spacious businessâclass cabin.
Regardless, this reduction in passenger numbers greatly decreased the risk of infection.
They didnât need to wear masks throughout the flight.
They could freely enjoy their meals and drinks.
During the flight, Larissa and Lewis were both engrossed in their laptops.
They were reviewing data from their partner companies and discussing the proposals they needed to present.
Kevan, on the other hand, sat with Aster across the aisle.
He kept Aster entertained by playing movies and teaching him how to play various games.
He even told Aster bedtime stories to help him fall asleep.
Finally, when Aster had drifted off to sleep, Kevan found a moment to slip away to the restroom.
Lewis took his eyes off the computer screen.
He looked at Kevanâs retreating figure and remarked thoughtfully. âHeâs treating Aster quite wellâ
Larissa softly responded with an âUhâhuhâ while concealing her other emotions.
After all, Aster was Kevanâs biological childâhow could he not treat Aster well?
They woke up to find the plane had already touched down at Bartham airport.
Once through customs, Lewis immediately made a call to the driver provided by the collaborating party.
âMr. Lewis? You and Ms. Seymour can come right out; Iâm waiting for you. Iâm holding a sign. Itâs very easy to spot me! Oh, and Ms. Seymourâs friend is also with me.â
Lewis hung up the phone and turned to Larissa. âDid you arrange for a friend to pick us up?â
Larissa was taken aback by the question. âNo, I didnât. I only have one friend, Wendy. You know her too. Besides, I didnât inform anyone about my return to Caldor.â
He hadnât changed much since their last meeting.
He still wore a gentle smile and had an elegant demeanor.
Dylan waved to them and called out, âLarissa! Kevan! Over here!â
Standing beside him was a short and stout middleâaged man.
The man held up a sign with Lewis and Larissaâs names written on it.
He also joined in with a wave and said, âMr. Lewis! Ms. Seymour!â
Despite his words, his gaze had remained fixed on Kevan throughout.
Lewis pushed the luggage cart forward, wearing a stem expression.
He spoke in a cold tone. âAllow me to introduce myself. Iâm Lewis, the one mentioned on that sign,â as he pointed at the placard.
