Chapter 910
Sweet Subterfuge
Marilyn did not suspect anything, and she actually sighed sadly for Larissa and said, âYouâre working too hard!â
Larissa smiled and mocked herself. âThe companyâs not doing very well recently, so Iâve got to cling on to Mr. Logan Junior and make sure that I donât get fired by him,â
After a brief pause, she asked Marilyn, âWhat about you? Youâve left for so long, why did you come back?â
â
âOh, I forgot something.â Marilyn smiled dryly as she let Larissa enter the elevator. She pointed behind her and said, âWell I go get my stuff.â
Larissa asked, âDo you need me to wait for you?
âNo, no, no!â Marilyn quickly refused. âYou go on ahead. I have no idea where I put my stulf, so I might need to look for a while.â
âOkay, then.â Although it was already past the peak hours for work dismissal, there were still people in the office building. Larissa could not let the elevator stop at the topmost floor for so long, so she dragged the suitcase in with her. âIâm leaving. See you tomorrow.â 1 Marilyn stood outside and waved back. Her smile was kind of stiff for some reason. âSee you tomorrow.â
Larissaâs big suitcase was surrounded by the âgossipy publicâ-which was actually just Wendy herself.
âHoly shit! This bag has got to be like eight thousand bucks!
âThis necklace! Itâs all real diamonds! Itâs got to be like a million bucks!
âThese earrings! Holy effing fuck! Itâs so pretty! How the hell is your cousinâs taste so good?
âAhhhhh! The legendary rich ladyâonly moisturizer! I could never bring myself to buy it! Supposedly its brightening, antiâwrinkle, and anti- aging effects are super good!â
Wendy carefully looked through everything in the suitcase. She did not stop letting cut exclamations of amazement.
Larissa covered her ears, and she regretted a little that she did not join the father and son pair to hide in the home theater. After Wendy had finally stopped. Larissa said, âTake whatever you like! My cousin bought it all anyway, so itâs not my money.â
She did not feel bad for Lewis at all.
Wendy was not a greedy cheapskate. She knew herself, and she did not take anything too expensive.
She only took a few highâend skincare products that she had always wanted.
âJust this? Lanssa thought she was not taking enough. So, she shoved the âeight thousand bucksâ bag and a pair of heels that Wendy had been eyeing for a very long time.
*These are too expensive. Wendy did not want to take them.
âWhy are you being all polite with me?!â Larissa Insisted on giving them to her. âItâs just money, and itâs nothing compared to pur friendship.â
âOur friendshipâ were the words that stabbed sharply into Wendyâs weakest spot as well as her guilt She still remembered what Vick sald about how Larissa went to the motel alone to save her.
âLari.â Wendy threw away everything she was holding as she hugged her friend lightly. âYouâre so good to me! Youâre the best gift that Eve ever received from anyone and anywhere!
Larissa could guess where Wendyâs gratitude came from, but such words from Wendy made Larissaâs skin break out in goosebumps.
Similar to Larissa, Kevan, and Aster, who had been standing at the place between the Iving room and the dining room for who knew how long as they had exited the home theater, had awkward expressions on their laces.
Asterâs face was all crumpled up with disgust too. âEww! Godma, your words are so grossiâ He pretended to rub his arms like the TV show characters.
Larissa nodded in agreement. âYep, itâs so gross.â
things from the suitcase in revenge.
