Chapter 898
Sweet Subterfuge
âIâll return to work tomorrow and get Aster back.â Larissa tried her best not to look any further down his neck so that she could focus on what she needed to say. âI might need you to check on the hired help.â
She had contacted an agency earlier on the Internet.
A hired help would be sent over tomorrow to take care of Wendy until Larissa finished work.
Despite the agencyâs assurance, Larissa couldnât help feeling uneasy as the hired help was still a complete stranger.
Hence, she got Kevan to keep an eye on that person.
âOkay,â Kevan said, taking off the bath towel wrapped around the lower part of his body before Larissa could react.
âHey!â Flustered, Larissa immediately covered her eyes with her hands. âCan you not be like this?â
Kevan didnât care about it too much. He calmly walked over to the edge of the bed and put on his pajamas. âWell this isnât your first time seeing it.â
Larissa was rendered speechless.
âHow is Aster doing at your dadâs place?â he as Larissa only allowed him to lay on the bed after he had finished putting on his clothes.
Kevan hadnât seen Aster for three days.
He dared not have a video call with his son, fearing that Gary would find out that he was staying with Larissa.
Hence, he could only get the latest updates about Aster from Larissa.
âHe is Sterally having the time of his life!â Larissa sneered. âHe doesnât even want to go home now.
What a brat!â
Wrapping his arm around her shoulders, he comforted her. âArenât you supposed to be happy that Aster is getting along well with your dad?â
âWhat is there to be happy about?â Larissa was bent out of shape. âNow that he has my dad backing him up, he doesnât even care about me anymore. Itâs just like how he sought your support back then!
Gosh, why did I give birth to such a son?â
As Kevan listened to her grumbles, his thoughts gradually drifted away.
âPerhaps I can use Aster to deal with those two men of the Logan family,â he mused, stroking his chin.
Although Larissa had been away from work for two days without any reason, it didnât cause too much of a stir. Well she wasnât close with her new colleagues, to begin with. Hence, whether or not she was around didnât make any difference to them.
What troubled Larissa the most was Marilyn.
After standing Marilyn up at the shopping mall that day. Marilyn had been ignoring Larissaâs calls and messages. It seemed like she was genuinely upset. Unless there were some workârelated matters that required Larissaâs attention, Marilyn wouldnât reach out to her.
Larissa apologized to her on the messaging app and even wrote a note to her. However, Marilyn still treated her coldly. Although she didnât mention forgiving Larissa, she didnât say anything like severing ties with the latter either.
Lewis had gone to Egron on a business trip, so Larissa didnât look for him at noon. Alter taking her lunch, she followed behind Marilyn and headed to the conference room where they often went.
Marilyn sat down with a long face and ignored Larissa.
Larissa approached her and apologized to her another time. âI have had some family matters to deal with recently. My phone is missing too: that is why I didnât reply to your messages.â
Her old phone had been taken away by Edmund, and she had no idea where it was at the moment.
Right now, she was using the phone that Kevan had bought for her at the airport.
Larissa put her new phone on the table. It was the same model as her previous phone, only the color was slightly different.
