Chapter 880
Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 880
Wendy anticipated that Larissa would be angry.
Alas, she didnât expect her to be so furious.
Startled by Larissaâs reaction, Wendy spilled half of the coffee in her cup.
As the cale was heated, Wendy was only wearing a thin shirt.
The scalding coffee that splashed on her left an unsightly mark on the beige fabric.
Wendy look a sharp breath. She set the cup down as tears welled up in her eyes. She dabbed vigorously at the stain with a napkin.
Fortunately, there werenât many people in the cale. The customers were sitting lar apart, so no one paid them any attention.
Only some of the waiters who walked back and forth glanced at them with puzzled looks.
Although she was still angry. Larissa couldnât help feeling sorry for Wendy when she burst into tears.
âWhy are you crying?â Larissa demanded, but her tone had softened.
Tears continued rolling down Wendyâs cheeks but she didnât say a word.
Feeling drained. Larissa leaned back into the sola. âYou wanted to talk to me, right? If you donât say anything, how are we going to talk? Or
is this your way of pressuring me to drop the case?â she asked.
Wendy stopped dabbing at her shirt. She clutched the balled-up napkin and said, âIâm not pressuring you.â
From start to finish, she never intended to force Larissaâs hand because she believed in Edmund.
Wendy explained. âEdmund didnât do anything wrong. If you are a person with principles, you should go to the police station and drop the
case.
âEdmund didnât do anything wrong? Fine, itâs my fault anyway.â Larissa couldnât stifle a mocking laugh when she heard what Wendy said.
Wendy looked up with tear-filled eyes and defended herself, âI have no intention to blame you
âStop right there!â Larissa interrupted her in frustration. âI meant that it was my fault to be considerate of your feelings. I didnât tell you the
truth, so you continued believing that Edmund is a good person.â
âThe truth?â Wendyâs gaze grew complicated.
There werenât any signs of surprise or confusion in her eyes.
It seemed as if she knew that Larissa was keeping something from her.
âThen tell me, what is the truth?â
Larissa took a deep breath and pondered on what to say. She decided to start with the least shocking facts first. âEdmund is Kevanâs
cousin. He has an older brother, Cody.â
Wendy had heard about this from Edmund, so she appeared unusually calm.
*Iâve mentioned the grudges between the Rogers family before. In a nutshell, they are involved in a dramatic struggle for the familyâs wealth and inheritance. Cody and Edmund caused a lot of trouble for Kevan previously, A few years ago, Kevan was shot and fell into a
coma because of Cody.â
*This is just a conflict between Kevan and Cody. What does Edmund have to do with this? Wendy was still on Edmundâs side as she
delended Edmund
Larissa said, âIâm getting to that. Edmund was in charge of the Regal Dynasty Hotel, I came in contact with him when I was working in the
Bartham branch for some time.â
She paused for a moment before continuing. âAt that time, Edmund had aggressively tried to pursue me even though he knew that I was
already married to Kevan.â
