Chapter 869
Sweet Subterfuge
Larissa quickly showered and got back into her clothes. She lay down in a corner of the bed and dared not to take up too much space.
She did not turn off the light. She woke up every half an hour to observe Wendyâs condition. Thankfully, other than the fact that Wendy was still uncerscious, she was fine.
Larissa slept very badly that night. After who knew how long, she suddenly heard a noise beside her. It was very light like the person was purposely trying not to wake her up.
Larissa did not sleep very deeply, so she opened her eyes immediately. Wendy, who had been lying down, was now hall sitting up. She had peeled back a part of the sheets and had one og down the bed.
They stared at each other for a few seconds before Wendy said. âDid I wake you? Her voice was dry and hoarse, maybe from the lack of water, though it was hard to tell.
âNo.â Larissa brushed her hair away from her larehead as she got up too. âHow are you feeling? She asked with concem, âDo you feel bad? What do you feel right now?â
âDizzy, thirsty, hungry. Thatâs all Wendyâs response was simple.
âGo brush up. 11l get someone to send up lood, Larissa picked up the telephone at the bedside table as she spoke.
While Wendy was brushing up. Larissa had everything arranged. It was only 8 am when she checked the time. She immediately
ly gave u the idea of waking Kevan.
Wendy washed off her tiredness and came out of the bathroom energetically. Compared to her. Larissa seemed to be the one in danger, the one who barely escaped death-though this was kinda accurate as well, âAsterâs okay, right? Wendy asked Larissa, She Icked her lips and continued regretful. âI didnât mean to leave him there by himsell yesterday.â
âI know. Heâs line.â Larissa did not plan to tell Wendy about what happened yesterday. She opened a bottle of mineral water and passed it over to Wendy. âDo you want to drink some water?â
Wendy accepted it and drank a huge mouthlul Her throat felt better. âStill-â She looked around like she was looking for clues. âHow did I get here?â
âYou donât remember anything? Larissa asked her back.
Wendy shook her head. âI only remember meeting Edmund outside the toilet yesterday, He said he wanted to talk to me about the baby
I wasnât going to go with him originally, but he lied to me and said that Aster was in his car. If I didnât cooperate with him, he wouldnât give Aster backâ¦
Wendy clenched her fists and looked sad and angry.
Larissa held Wendyâs hand to signal to her to relax a bit. Wendy held Larissaâs hand back and let out a big breath.
âLater, he lock me to a cafe near the mall. I told him I would abort the baby and that he did not have to care. But he disagreed then donât remember what happened next. He must have drugged my drink to make me sleep until now.â
Larissa grunted in response. This was considered a confirmation of her own thoughts. âEdmund got you here. He was taken away by the police yesterday.â
Wendy was both surprised and not surprised. Larissa delinitely took some action to be able to lind her.
But âcalling the police seemed a little too much, Wendy felt bad. âActually, you didnât have to call the police, he didnât really hurt me anyway
Wendy did not understand the full truth. She thought Edmund just drugged her and brought her to the hotel
Larissaâs eyed twitched as she asked Wendy, âYou canât possibly still have leelings for him can you?â
Wendy looked down sitently for a while before she admitted. âI did like him belare,â But she could not forgive his cheating. So, she would forget him slowly until she felt nothing for him again.
Larissa did not know what to say. She fell bad for Wendy, so she could only hold it in even if she really wanted to expose Edmundâs true
Lari
Wendy looked up at her friend and
and begged. âCan you get the police to let him go?â
