Chapter 850
Sweet Subterfuge
Larissa had prepared a whole lot of words of comfort, but none of them were used. She was quiet for a while before asking Wendy, âDo you wanna go over to my place and stay there for a while?â
Although Wendy was acting really calm, Larissa still worried about her being alone in the apartment.
âSure!â Wendy happily agreed and threw the fried chicken she was holding away. âIâll go pack right now!â
Because they did not live far apart, Wendy only brought a few things. âTve never lived in a huge place!â
She was so excited along the way. One could not tell that she had taken a huge blow today.
Lewis was still at Larissaâs place. When he saw Larissa bringing Wendy back before Larissaâs supposed time of return with a pale face, a bunch of questions ran through Lewis mind. In the end, he just asked. âDid you have your dinner yet?â
âShe did.â Larissa pointed at Wendy. âI didnât.â
Wendy quickly said, âI can still eat!â
There were many people in the house. Lewis ordered takeout, which was mostly things that Wendy wanted to eat.
Wendyâs appetite had increased, probably because she was pregnant. Larissa stared at her with wide eyes and an open mouth. Belore Wendy could grab the third slice of pizza, Larissa stopped her. âIf you eat anymore, your stomach will burst!â
Wendy licked her fingers, still wanting more. But she still stopped when she saw her big stomach.
After dinner, Wendy lay on the couch, ordering Aster to serve her and give her anything she wanted, like water and snacks.
Larissa and Lewis cleaned the dining table together. Lewis quietly asked Larissa, âWendy broke up with her boyfriend?â
His keenness surprised Larissa. But after a momentâs thought she figured it was not that hard to guess.
After all Wendy made it so obvious.
âYeahâ Larissa replied, âSheâll be staying here for a while to heal from the breakup.â
Lewis turned to look sympathetically at Wendy, and then he asked Larissa again, âShould we change our location for tomorrow?â
âNo. Weâll be in the study. Thatâs not disturbing anyone.â This apartment was big enough, and there was a distance from the study and the living room. Moreover, the soundproofing was better than the old apartment, so they did not have to worry about Wendy disturbing them.
âFine then.â Lewis pointed at the study. âIâll leave the documents in the study, and I wonât take them away. If you donât have anything to do at night, you can still look through them.â
âOkay.â Larissa agreed.
Wendy had Aster for company, so Larissa was not the least bit worried. She hid in the study with her phone and secretly videoâcalled Kevan while pretending that she was âworking overtimeâ.
Kevan was waiting for her too. The moment the call connected, he answered quickly. âDid you lind Wendy?â
âYes, she was at home, and she was fine.â Larissa sat on her chair as she complained somewhat cutely at Kevan. âShe could eat and sleep. Like, she was totally chill and fine compared to me.â
