Chapter 841
Sweet Subterfuge
âIt he is a responsible, good man, he would not have made you get pregnant when he is not ready to marry you yet.â
Larissa could not reveal Edmundâs true identity. She could only let Wendy know that Edmund was no good person through this sort of roundabout way.
âHe never mentioned anything about marrying meâ Wendy mumbled. âBut he always said that he was serious about me.â
âThen call him right now and tell him youâre pregnant. Ask him what you should do now.â Although Larissa was anxious, this was Wendyâs life. She could not make any final decisions for her best friend.
âI ââWendy hesitated. âCan I have two days to process it all?â She pleaded with Larissa. âI really canât think straight now. Maybe Iâll have calmed down within two days and Iâll have figured it out.â
Larissa could not bear to force her. âOkay.â
It was almost time to pick Aster up from school. Larissa asked Wendy. âWant to go pick Aster up with me?â
Wendy nodded lifelessly. âSure.â
There were always kids running around in the kindergarten, Larissa kept Wendy behind her. She was constantly looking out for any littleâ bombsâ that would shoot over from wherever.
Wendy was not as nervous as Larissa. She followed along very slowly.
Every time Larissa tumed back, she could see Wendy staring at the children walking past them.
Larissa had mixed feelings. She pretended not to know anything and urged Wendy to walk faster.
They finally arrived at Asterâs classroom door. The children were almost gone, but Aster was not inside.
Seeing Larissa and Wendy appear together, the teacher froze for a moment before explaining. âA child from the afternoon classes fell from the slide. He had hurt his head, so Aster has accompanied him to the hospitalâ
Larissa was confused and curious. âAster accompanied him?â
âWell thereâs a teacher too! That kidâs parents are still busy with work, so they could not come yet. Aster is quite good friends with him. and heâs worried that his friend might be afraid white alone at the hospital so he offered to go with him.
âThey should be back soon. We thought you would come to pick Aster up at your usual time, so Why donât you wait here for a bit? Iâll call the teacher there.â The teacher took out her own phone as she said that Larissa stopped her. âNo need. Weâll go pick him up at the hospital The teacher gave Larissa the hospitalâs address. It was not far from here. Just a 10âminute drive from the school.
The kid who fell was still getting stitches. Aster was with him next to the bed, holding the kidâs hand lightly and giving him encouragement.
The teacher brought Aster out and gave him to Larissa. After thanking Larissa, the teacher hurriedly went back to watch over the other kid.
A nurse came over and asked Larissa quietly in a mysterious way, âIs your child also going to school at Sundale Academy?â
Larissa did not know why the nurse was like this, but she nodded and said, âYes.â
âIâm telling you, that kindergarten is kinda problematic. They might be abusing children.â The nurse advised her out of kindness. âYouâd better change your kid into a safer schoolâ
âHuh?â Larissa was shocked.
Sundale Academy was a kindergarten she and Wendy chose after researching online as well as asking many friends. It should be the regionâs most integrated kindergarten. Moreover, the school has almost 50 years of history. There were no cases of child abuse up until now.
*Child abuse Do you have prool? Larissa asked the nurse. slide and hurt his head. Who knows if itâs true? And two days ago, there was another kid who gol sent over with bruises on their arm. âThe teacher said that the kid knocked into a table when playing. But Iâve been in the emergency department for so many years. I can tell that it was not something you get by knocking inta lumilure. The kid was beaten by someone.â
