Chapter 838
Sweet Subterfuge
Kevan bought a flight ticket back to Calder.
Before he left, he helped Larissa move into their new place.
Their new home was only two streets away from Larissaâs original apartment.
It was a penthouse on the 43rd floor with a beautiful view, overlooking the entire city of Westonia.
It wasnât Kevanâs best property in Westonia. Still, it was the most suitable for Larissa and Aster at the moment.
The interior design and furniture were left behind by the previous owner.
Although it didnât completely match their tastes. Kevan had no time to renovate the property due to the recent purchase.
The advantage was that everything they needed was already available.
They didnât need to worry about the hassle of renovating the place just yet.
Regardless, both Larissa and Aster were satisfied.
Kevanâs schedule was tight. After moving all their luggage to the new house, he had to leave.
With tears in his eyes. Aster grabbed his leg and refused to let Kevan go.
His anguish was as if he was experiencing a separation worse than life and death.
âDaddy! Donât go! I donât want you to leave! Didnât you promise me that you would never leave me any more!â
Kevan was always gentle and patient with Aster. Seeing him cry like this, he couldnât bear to drag Aster away by force and leave.
Kevan explained to him repeatedly. âI am just going back to handle some matters. Iâll be back very soon.â
Aster was too upset to listen. He sobbed, âDaddy, donât go! I wonât let you leave!â
In the end, Larissa pulled Aster off Kevan so that he could catch his fight.
As soon as Kevan left, Aster locked himself in his room. He even forbade Larissa from disturbing him.
Wiping his tears, Aster opened his WhatsApp and video called Kevan.
Kevan accepted his call immediately. With a smile, he said, âYouâve done wellâ
Asterâs face was downcast and he said with a pout, âMommy is so heartless! Iâve cried so much, but she still wonât let you stay!â
Kevan comforted him, âYour mother wants me to focus on my job. Donât blame her.â
âI donât blame her.â Aster rarely got angry with Larissa. âDaddy, are you going back to Caldor?â
Kevan answered. âYes.â
Since he was chased out, there was no point staying in Aldovia.
Besides, he did need to return to Caldor and settle things once and for all.
âI wonât be gone for too long. When Iâm away, listen to your mom. Donât make her angry, alright?â he instructed Aster.
Aster nodded vigorously. âGot it!â
Kevan thought for a moment and added. âDonât play with Freddy anymore. Keep your mother away from his dad as well.â
âI wonât play with Freddy! He seems to be acting weird lately, Iâm a little scared of him now! However, Mommy keeps wanting me to play with him.
âWhenever Mommy is around, Freddy acts extra friendly to me. If I am mean to Freddy, Mommy will scold me.â Aster complained with pursed lips.
Kevan taught him, âNext time, you should treat Freddy nicely in front of your mother, il you go overboard, she will think that she hasnât Aster pondered over and assured Kevan, âOh, I will do my best.â
âIf thereâs any problem, call me immediately, III canât handle it, look for Uncle Lewis. Do you have Uncle Lewisâ number? If not. Iâll send you his number.â Kevan, who was usually cold and alcol, seemed like a nagging old lady right now. He was genuinely concerned for his wife and sor.
âI have it.â The last time Lewis and Gary came to visit. Aster had saved their phone numbers.
âGood.â Kevan waved to the camera and said goodbye. âIâm going to the airport. See you tomorrow.â
Holding back his tears, Aster waved as well âGoodbye, Daddy!â
