Chapter 831
Sweet Subterfuge
Kevan snorted with disdain.
âHis pitiful situation is caused by his dad. I wouldnât be difficult at all to find him a stepmother. Instead, he wants someone elseâs wife!â
Larissa chuckled at his words.
The sense of pity she felt for Freddy disappeared instantly.
Kevanâs reasoning made sense. The situation was easy to resolve.
As long as Allen found a wife to many, Freddy would have a complete family again.
No matter how much she pitied Freddy, she couldnât fulfill his wish.
Compared to other children, her own son took priority.
Finally, the cake was ready.
When they opened the oven, a sweet and enticing aroma walted out.
Larissa cut off the edges of the cake into a plate and asked Aster to share them with other children.
She assumed that he would give some to Freddy first, but he went straight to another table.
After the plate was empty, only then did he return.
Larissa was a little angry.
She hoped that Aster would become lively and mischievous, but she didnât want him to be sellish.
She pulled him aside and asked, âWhy didnât you share the cake with Freddy?â
Aster replied honestly, âI donât like him, so I donât want to share with him.â
Aster and Freddy were good friends previously, but their friendship had soured since that incident in the car.
It hadnât improved until now.
Larissa understood Asterâs leelings to some extent.
As an adult, she hoped he could be considerate of others a
and see the bigger picture.
âIf you exclude him and only share with other kids, you will make him sad. Think about it, II everyone in class ganged up and refused to play with you, wouldnât you feel sad too?â She tried to reason with Aster.
In the past Aster would have admitted his mistake.
He would have apologized to Freddy with some cake under her guidance.
But this time, he stood his ground and argued in delense of himself. âItâs not that I dislike him without reason. Itâs because he made a
mistake and hurt me. Thatâs why I donât like him. Daddy told me that as long as it is not illegal, I can do whatever I want.
âSo, I donât want to do what I donât feel like doing. Since I donât want to share the cake with him, I absolutely wonât. I donât care how he
feels. He didnât care about my feelings previously.â
Larissa had never thought that her obedient son would rebel against her before reaching adolescence.
Still, his words made sense.
His reasoning was logical.
Still, she had never instilled such thoughts in him, nor would Wendy.
Only Kevan would.
After all, that man was used to thinking about himsell only.

Larissa couldnât determine whether this was ethically right or not, so she couldnât decide on her next course of action.
After thinking for a moment, she said. âLetâs leave this at that for now. We will discuss this at home.â
Once they got home, she needed to have a discussion with Kevan on how to educate their son in the future.
Allenâs tarts didnât need any decorating.
They were ready to go as soon as the tarts were taken out of the oven.
Freddy took two and walked up to Larissa apprehensively.
He offered one to her and the other to Aster. âDo you want to try?â
