Chapter 828
Sweet Subterfuge
The kindergartenâs parentâchild activities were held in the afternoon.
Only a few classes were joining. Thus, there were fewer people in the kindergarten as compared to regular school days.
Kevan held a bag filled with baking ingredients in one hand. He held Asterâs hand in the other.
Larissa was on the opposite side of Aster. She was waiting for Wendyâs reply.
Wendy had a day off today. Usually, she would be home all day. This time, her mysterious lover came over last night. So, she left the house early in the morning.
The two of them were spending time together now.
Larissa was very curious about the mysterious man who made Wendyâs love life bloom. Still she didnât want to push it since Wendy wasnât willing.
The three of them would not be home for dinner tonight. So, Larissa sent a message to Wendy saying that she needed to settle dinner on her own.
Of course, if Wendy wanted to bring her man along for dinner, she was more than welcome.
Alas, Wendy hadnât responded to her message all day.
The baking class was filled with people. Families joining in the baking competition outnumbered the tables available. Thus, quite a few families had to share a table.
Larissa didnât expect to meet Allen here. She also didnât expect Allen to bring Freddy and share a table with them.
Since the last time they parted ways at the cinema, she and Allen had not been in touch.
While she was sad at the loss of their friendship, she didnât want to be entangled with him again.
âLarissa,â Allen greeted her with a smile.
His attitude was just as natural as before.
Larissa turned to see Kevanâs reaction.
He had a poker face on, not showing any emotion.
âH.â She waved to Allen and Freddy with a formal smile.
Freddy still seemed somewhat apprehensive around her.
From the beginning to the end, he stayed close behind Allen and spoke in a barely audible tone.
Allen placed the ingredients he prepared on Larissaâs table and asked. âDo you mind if we join you?â
Larissa felt uneasy, but she couldnât refuse.
The table was to be shared after all It wasnât her private property.
âSure,â she replied.
âWhat are you making? Allen asked.
Larissa took out the ingredients from the bag one by one as she replied, Tm baking a strawberry cake.â
She had learned how to make various desserts from Violel previously.
Making a cake was simple.
Larissa wasnât here to win.
She wanted Aster to experience the atmosphere, so she didnât put in too much effort.
â¦â¦â¦..
â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦..
Having known Larissa for many years, he had only seen her in work mode.
She dedicated much of her time to work.
He didnât expect her to have spare time for activities that were unrelated to work.
âI leamed it back in Caldor.â Larissa said.
Hearing this, Allenâs admiration was evident on his face. âWhen itâs done, you have to let me taste it!â
Larissa smiled. âSure.â
Wrapping his arms around Larissa from behind. Kevan snuggled closer to her and interrupted their conversation.
He spoke in a friendly tone to Allen, âYou and Freddy should have more of her cake! Larissaâs cakes are even better than those sold in stores. Aster and I eat them often, so we wonât miss out.â
Allenâs expression darkened and his gaze lingered on the couple.
Finally, he responded with a smile, âSure.â
Larissa had not baked for many years, but she could still remember the steps.
It wasnât that hard for her to pick baking up again from muscle memory.
Two days ago, Kevan and Aster had crammed for this baking competition as well.
They managed to help out with various tasks and werenât a burden to her.
Soon, they progressed to the cakeâbaking step. With the batter in the oven, Larissa had some free time.
Kevan had already prepared the whipped cream in advance.
Strawberries for decoration were already cleaned and sliced, ready to be placed on the cake.
