Chapter 820
Sweet Subterfuge
Larissa turned to look at Kevan in shock and nervousness âWhen Lari has more time, we can pack up and move.â Keyan shot Larissa a smile, ignoring the questioning look in her eyes. âWe have an event to attend at the kindergarten on Saturday. How about Sunday?â
Larissaâs eyes grew wider, and she stammered at the unexpected news. âWâWhere are we moving to?
Why donât I know about this?â
Kevan let go of her waist and ruffled her hair affectionately. He whispered in a mysterous tone. âYouâll find out this Sunday.â
When Kevan said to wait until Sunday, he absolutely would not reveal a hint about their new home before that Even though Larissa pestered him with questions throughout the entire ride to work, he remained tightâ
lipped. Larissa could not get any clues from him.
When she got out of the car, Larissa slammed the door, seething with anger, Kevan covered his ears and stared after her retreating figure with a smile.
Larissa arrived in the nick of time. Her new colleagues had all arrived. They were working swiftly and silently at their own tasks.
Perhaps because everyone was still unfamiliar with each other, or maybe it was just their usual habit of working.
Whenever someone passed by, it seemed as if they didnât notice. They didnât raise their heads to look around or judge others on their clothes and appearances.
Larissa finally felt that she was back in a normal working environment. She didnât have to walk around with her head down for fear of incurring judgment.
When she almost reached her desk, she felt two buming gazes boring into her from a distance.
The owner of that gaze was none other than Marilyn, who was sitting across from her.
Marilyn was her only friend in Blue Star Shipping.
Larissa was a little perplexed by Marilynâs intense stare. Turning on her computer, she logged into her messaging app and asked Marilyn,â
Whatâs wrong?
She tried to recall their interactions from yesterday evening after bidding her goodbye. Up until now, they hadnât had any cortact in between. She couldnât have done anything to offend Marlyn.
Marilyn replied with an angry emoji. Larissa responded with a series of question marks.
The next second, she heard a rapid clatter of keystrokes from the other side.
From the intersity of her typing, it was obvious that Marilyn was in a bad mood.
Larissaâs heart sank, feeling ill at ease.
Soon, Marilynâs message came. âYouâre so inconsiderate! How could you ask Mr. Logan Junior to send me home? Donât you know how awkward I tell yesterday? Iâm so mad right now!
So that was the issue.
Larissa breathed a sigh of relief. She wasnât a fool. She could tell that Marlyn had a crush on Lewis.
Lewis, however she did not create opportunities for them, it would be impossible for Marilyn to confess to him.
âOkay, okay! Iâm sorryâ Larissa apologized profusely, but she did not mean it.
Inwardly, she wasnât sorry for what she did.
âMr. Logan Junior even noticed the mark on my cheek! My image is completely ruined! Iâm going crazy!
He saw me in such an ugly state! Donât stop me. Iâm going to jump off a building now!â
based on her messages alone.
Marilyn was particularly concemed about her image. She dared not show herself without makeup in front of ordinary colleagues.
It was worse now that the person she liked caught sight of her being less than perfect. Larissa could understand the frustration she must have fell.
