Chapter 765
Sweet Subterfuge
âI accidentally broke the mug you gave me.â Larissa did not want to make this issue bigger than it already was, so she purposely hid the truth. âDo you have a new mug? Iâm a bit thirsty and I want to drink some coffee.â
âI donât have any more mugs, but I do have a thermos that I barely used. Itâs pretty clean. If you donât mind, you can use it for now. Iâll buy you a new cup tomorrow,â Lewis said.
âSure.â Larissa was not that bad of a clean freak, so she did not mind as he already said that he had cleaned it, Lewis gave her his thermos.
Larissa waited for a while, then she went to the pantry again.
The cup pieces had already been taken care of by the janitor. The women had also vanished.
Larissa waited for the coffee to finish brewing before she poured a cup for herself. She sipped at it as she walked outside. She ran into Judy again at the door.
Judy was holding a oneâtimeâuse cup that she got from who knew where. When she saw Larissa, she widened her eyes.
âI was just going to make you some coffee!â She grinned. âI didnât think youâd just come by yourself.â
Larissa smiled. âThanks.â
Judy crumpled the paper cup and tossed it into the trash can. She followed Larissa back to her seat.
âMr. Logan Junior has the exact same thermos as you do!â She pretended to say casually.
Larissa did not hide it. âMr. Logan Junior lent this to me. My mug was smashed. He just so happened to have an extra.â With that, Larissa deliberately drank a large mouthful of coffee in front of Judy. She watched with satisfaction as Judyâs smile froze on her face.
âOh, by the way, do you have time tonight. Larissa? Judy forcibly changed the topic. âThereâs a new restaurant open on Queensway, and some of us have agreed to go try it out. Do you want to come?â
Larissa did not know who was included in the âus.â But no matter who was going, she would not go âSadly not Larissa put a look of helplessness on her face. Iâve got to do a verbal report for Mr. Logan Junior tomorrow. Iâve got to go home and organize all the information and finish the slideshow.â
âAâ Judy seemed to regret this state of events. âAlright then. Once youâre free, we can go again.â
âSure.â Larissa agreed. She was already thinking of what excuse to use to refuse by then.
During midâday, Larissa and Marilyn went to eat in the cafeteria together. Her ankle did not hurt as bad as it did yesterday, so she naturally could not make someone grab lunch for her again.
Larissa could sense all the stares from all over the cafeteria while she sat there. They stabbed into her back, It was so bad that the delicious food in her mouth tasted like wax She did not know that she was so âfamousâ in the company now. She could vaguely guess how these people knew about her and what sort of âlegendsâ they heard about her.
Marilyn could sense Larissaâs awkward situation, so she asked considerately, âDo you want to grab a box and bring the load upstairs to eat instead?
Larissa refused her kind offer. But under the âsupervision of the crowd, they could not eat at all, Larissa put down her fork and knife after only having a few bites. Her tray was still full.
Marilyn was not any better.
They went back upstairs, still hungry. They stayed at their workplaces and shared a small bag of crackers Marilyn had forgotten in her drawer between themselves.
Lewis had finished his lunch and came out from Garyâs office right at that moment, so that scene was what he saw.
âDid you not eat well at the cafeteria, or did you not eat at all?â He asked.
