Chapter 640
Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 640
âYou said you wanted my help?â Dylan looked around. The ballroom had already been set up and only needed some final touches
The hotel staff was busy, but everything was in order. It seemed that there was no need for his help. He furrowed his brows, and a sense of annoyance surged from within.
âCan you stop using these lowly tactics?â
Sharon would go to any lengths to see him, just like before. His cold tone and disgusted gaze caught her off guard.
Moments later, she smiled with a hint of sarcasm, âIt seems that you have overestimated your charm.â She glared at Dylan. The rosy hue on her face faded as she spoke sarcastically. âIl was your fatherâs idea that you come here. Donât forget, weâre a model couple in othersâ eyes. Or do you wish to let the cat out of the bag?â
The essence of Dylanâs marriage with Sharon was known to both families. They merely wanted the stability and business cooperation the marriage brought. They didnât care whether the two were happy with the arrangement or not. They only had one requirement for the two- to act like they were in love and put on a good show whenever they were in public, even if their relationship was terrible.
Although Dylan usually acted nonchalant, deep down, he was actually afraid of his father. That was why he agreed to marry Sharon,
Thus, when Sharon mentioned his father, his attitude immediately softened. He only responded with a dissatisfied snort choosing not to confront her further.
a
âThereâs nothing for you to help with here. Just have a seat and play with your phone to pass the time,â
Sharon said.
âYou want me to play with my phone while youâre busy? But that wonât show off our affection!â He suddenly took a step forward. He h ooked his arm around her slender waist and pulled her into his embrace.
âDarling, how about you go and rest? Iâll help you with the workâ he suggested. Hearing him call her âdarlingâ made her body stiften. Her eyes widened in disbelief.
Before this, there was no one else around them except for Kevan. So, the other employees didnât hear the hurtful words they exchanged earlier. Now, they saw the affectionate exchange between the couple.
The employees felt a tinge of envy and jealousy as if they were witnessing a fairy-tale love story.
She readily accepted his suggestion.
âSure,â she replied. She smiled softly and handed the walkie-talkie to him. She pointed at the young woman in a managerâs uniform who had been with her earlier. âMs. Helen over there will tell you what to do later. 11 rest then.â
After breaking free from his embrace, she turned to him with a bright smile and said. âThank you, darling!â
The faint sense of loss that Dylan had just experienced vanished instantly. He rubbed the goosebumps on his arm. Then, he mustered a smile as he replied in a similar way. âYouâre welcome, daring!â
The onlookers were captivated by their love.
Sharon didnât return to the hall for quite some time after she left. Following Sharonâs instructions, Dylan sought out Ms. Helen and completed the tasks Sharon hadnât finished. By the time everything was done, the guests were almost arriving.
Dylan didnât forget to bring Kevan along to the entrance to welcome the quests.
Outside the hall, directly opposite the entrance, there were two registration tables. One for the groomâs family and the other for the brideâs family, These tables were specifically designated for checking in the guests and receiving wedding gifts.
